Axa Limonier (Nice) happy to take your money, but not to pay a claim

I've been with Axa Limonier (Nice France) for 19 years for my house insurance. They've had THOUSANDS of euros in premiums from me over the years. We had storm damage to our roof in November 2025. It is now February 2026 and they have not responded to 3 emails with proof of what we paid the roofer and a photo of the hole which let in the snow and rain.

ZERO Response, ZERO Support. AXA Will Ignore Your Valid Claim

If I could give zero stars, I would. I took out AXA's "Premium" insurance for a car rental in Madeira, hoping for peace of mind. Instead, I got a masterclass in how an insurance company can completely ghost its customers.
Here's the timeline of their failure:
The Problem: Our rental car had a mechanical failure (not our fault), and the rental agency wrongly charged us €175 for roadside assistance that was supposed to be included.
The Claim: I filed a fully documented claim with AXA on October 26th.
The Silence: After hearing nothing, I followed up on November 14th. Still nothing.
The Final Notice: I sent a formal notice on January 3rd, warning them of further action.
The result? Absolute silence. It has been [Number of months] months, and I have not received a single reply. Not an acknowledgement, not a query, nothing.
AXA happily took my money for a policy, but when it came time to honor it, they vanished. Their customer service is non-existent, and their claims process is a black hole. Do not make the same mistake I did. This company is unreliable and will abandon you when you need them most. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

AXA Spain = no service

AXA Spain handled my claim with extreme negligence and disrespect.

After reporting a water leak in September 2025, AXA ignored repeated calls and emails for months. When they finally sent a plumber in December, the repair was done incorrectly and caused the damage to worsen, including significant mould growth.

In January 2026, despite daily calls, no assistance was provided. On two occasions, AXA representatives abruptly hung up the phone when I spoke English.

Instead of taking responsibility, AXA closed the claim stating the repair was done ‘as a courtesy’ and denying coverage, while completely ignoring the damage caused by their own contractor.

This is not just poor service – it is irresponsible and unacceptable treatment of a foreign customer. I strongly advise others to avoid AXA Spain for home insurance.

Axa FR changed the way to upload health…

Axa FR changed the way to upload health issues. Which is in a place very hard to find out. This should be easy, as people with a litlle bit of more age won't be able to find it.
We are in 2025, AI is something that really should improve to get:
Document Date,
Type of Appointment, and
Amount.

User should upload the expense, really without almost any intervention to add the previous data.

PLEASE, do this improvements, it will help for sure users, and who is dealing with the expenses.
and the button to submit expenses should be for sure more accessable and not hidden.

Unporofessional, non communicative and xenphobic

I had an axa bank and car inrussance for 1.5 year while I was living in France. I speak French but not fluently as I was there to work in an international research drug company. Despite my efforts to communicate with them in French ( although they are an international company) they were always extremely impolite and never really helpful.
In one instant while i was on the phone with them they forgot to turn off the speaker and i clearly heard them say " its the lady with the broken french i dont want to speak to them"

I deeply do not know what to say about them , due to my career as a researcher I have lived in different european countries and i have never had such an indifferent and hostile behavior especially coming from a bank and from an insurrance

I paid for Premium insurance with AXA…

I paid for Premium insurance with AXA online when I rented with Europecar. At car collection I was informed that this insurance could not be confirmed and that I had to take out an extra insurance directly with the car rental company. I sent numerous emails to Axa asking for help. They answered NOT ONE. How reliable is that for an insurance company? They just grab the money and then hide !!! RUN away from them !

AXA is not trustworthy

We thought we had a full car insurance with Avis. It turned out that it was AXA. When we after several hours finally got a phone number (the phone number we were given had no subscriber) we were asked to send several documents about our car hire and now they tell us that they haven´t got confirmation of having paid the car damage.
Which we have!!!!
Avoid Avis and AXA at all cost! They can´t be trusted although good reviews on their web sites.

Avoid AXA home insurance!

Avoid AXA France. The deck is stacked against you. AXA’s tactic is simple. First, send an adjuster only months after the damage is done. Second, blame the customer for making repairs in the meantime and deny any claims based on the fact there’s no discernible damage. Ignore all written statements and photos submitted by the client throughout the process. After a decade-plus of paying ever-rising premiums for AXA home insurance , I filed my first claim in March 2024 when a rainstorm ruined our upstairs terrace and downstairs bedroom. A month later, a windstorm toppled an old chimney and damaged part of the roof. The damage totaled a little more than 10k euros. I submitted a detailed description of what happened and pictures in real time, and everything appeared honkey dory. A Saratec adjuster showed up four months later. He dismissed any claims, saying there was no damage to be seen after we redid the roof terrace, roof and downstairs bedroom. His comment at the time was something like: “Well, you should’t have fixed it.” (Really? And just let water ruin the whole house?) His written report - a one-liner - denied all claims, saying the repairs addressed the cause, not the damage. He did not address the second incident. I complained to the insurer The result: AXA sent the another person from the same Saratec agency four months later. The adjuster of course only used this as an opportunity to justify his colleagues earlier report. His main conclusion again was that there was no discernible damage - after eight months!

Impossible to File Claim

I have Homeowner's insurance, a separate Assurance Juridique policy and a Schengen Health Insurance with AXA. In EVERY instance, it's been useless. Before starting renovation on my home, I went to Limonier an AXA Agency to ask about Assurance Juridique. They told me it's up to the contractor to have the insurance policy and construction insurance doesn't exist in France. The contractor stole a new Bidet Toilet I ordered, didn't complete the work as agreed and AXA won't do anything. Must look into cancelling the policies now but I must find a better insurance company.

I had a disappointing experience with…

I had a disappointing experience with this insurance company. They do not honour what is clearly stated in their policy as being covered. For example, we missed a flight through no fault of our own, yet they refused to reimburse us. The response times are excessively long, making the process even more frustrating. To make matters worse, they requested documents that were nearly impossible to obtain, seemingly as a tactic to avoid paying out. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone seeking reliable and fair insurance coverage.

Avoid axa

Other driver admits fault but AXA drag their heels and won't answer emails and when they do they answer 1 of 3 questions leaving 2 unanswered. The most frustrating insurance company. Won't be renewing.

A scam

As the other reviews show, if you have a choice avoid Axa travel insurance if you can. It was unfortunately part of my platinum Amex. Their business model is simple: always find a way not to pay. Contractually they will always find a clause in their pages and pages of fine print T&C not to pay. I had to cancel a trip because my mother passed away and they didn’t pay because French government advises against going to Lebanon, although the cancellation had nothing to do with the political situation in Lebanon. I spent half an hour filling the claim in a super slow awful portal - it’s done on purpose to discourage you. A scam-based business model basically

Not recommend, impossible to cancel insurance

I tried to cancel a motorcycle insurance policy for a garaged motorbike which has not been ridden for the last ten years. I followed generally accepted insurers guidelines to completely immobilise and make safe the machine which included dismantling the bike removing the petrol tank, fuel, oil and wheels. Despite following the process (which is accepted by other insurers in France) to the letter and providing photographic proof to the agency, Axa have refused and continue to pursue me legally. This saga has been ongoing for over one year.
