I rented a car two times during a week…

I rented a car two times during a week in Thessaloníki airport. Both times the service was excellent, from the front desk people to pick up/return kiosk.

All procedure is done electronically, from signing the contract to car’s recordings (previous scratches etc).

Prices are very competitive, however the majority of fleet is not the latest models.

We got a car... eventually

Hiring a car from Avance was a fairly poor experience really - it took them over an hour from when we arrived to actually provide us with a car. We were picking up at the Athens downtown depot and my suspicion is that they didn't have a car for us there when we arrived, so had to get one driven over from one of the other depots in the area, despite the fact that we'd booked weeks in advance.

For the second half hour that we were waiting they repeatedly told us it would be ready in a couple of minutes. They made excuses about being very busy and having lots of cars to bring round, but it shouldn't take over an hour to bring a car from the lot at the back to the front of the office no matter how busy you are.

The car itself, once it arrived was okay, but not great. There were a lot of scuffs and marks on it, more than it was possible for me to verify were all correctly logged before we drove away, which leaves you feeling a little nervous that some pre-existing damage will be held against you when you drop it off. To be fair that didn’t happen, the drop-off at Athens airport was very straightforward, and the car was fine otherwise.

And of course the hire price was very cheap so, even having had that experience, I still might consider hiring from them again, and just hope they do a better job of it next time.

People 5 stars, company minus 10

The people working there deserve five stars, the procedures of the company minus ten stars! They have set up their procedures to cheat you out of more money when returning the car. I needed to go and tank an extra 2 liters (3,5 euros) to avoid being charged an additional 20 euros. Instead of the normal procedure of get the car with a full tank and bring it back full, they leave it where ever, so you need to always tank more than you used, or be fined with 20 euros. I will never rent from these crooks again! Remind you, this is a holiday location, so most people need to catch a plain and don't have time to go and tank extra if they are being cheated into paying 20 euros extra. And the chances of coming back and using this company again, so you can "use the extra gasoline you paid for" as they claim, are neglectable. Not worthy and severely damaging the Greek hospitality and "filotimo".

You made your reservation through our website. In accordance with the terms and conditions, where you have accepted, by making your reservation, also mentions our term, regarding the fuel policy. Also, upon delivery of the vehicle, the respective station always informs the customer about the fuel. In case, that the respective customer does not return the vehicle in the same amount of fuel, where he received it, according to the contract, the respective customer must settle the fuel difference. In any other case, he has the possibility to go to the nearest fuel station, in order to fill up the necessary fuel that is missing. Also, we don't understand your reference to liters.
We understand and know that our customers choose our services, whether for leisure, work, etc., but all customers have and adhere to the same conditions. Each customer has to return the vehicle in the same condition that he received it, therefore he needs to check and plan his time accordingly.
We are also very sorry for your comments regarding our hospitality, but also our company's “filotimo”, but our company always serves each customer in the best possible way and according to the concept of “filotimo”, we consider our company to be in favor of duly consistent in its obligations.
Our company, as it does not wish in any case for there to be any confusion or misunderstanding to each customer, regarding the terms and conditions of our company, we believe that mentioning them, on our official website, in the rental agreement, but also during the delivery of the vehicle, we make ourselves as clear as possible, to avoid any dissatisfaction from our customers.
There is no possibility, if there is any pending issue on the part of the customer, to avoid the corresponding charge and have it borne by our company.
Nevertheless, thank you for your comments about our company's staff.

Frequent User - Business customer

I've been using Avance Car Rental at Santorini Airport very often since i travel and work there during Summer season. Best car hire experience ever

I booked Avance after a thorough research ahead of my arrival to Thessaloniki. At first I was a bit sceptical due to the low price. My flight arrived an hour than scheduled but the staff was very helpful to guide me how to find their kiosk at the airport. The check in process was the quickest I ever had. The company operates paperless so I received & signed the hire agreement via my email. The staff at the kiosk was very friendly and she never insisted of asking us to pay for a full insurance (as most of the car hires do). A shuttle picked us up from the terminal to a short drive to Avance car park. The car was brand new with low mileage (less than 10k) hybrid and spotless. Again the damage check was paperless and very efficient.

On the return we dropped off the car to the same spot and took them less than 3 mins to complete the check load our luggage to the shuttle van and drive us back to the terminal.

It was the best car hire experience I ever had in an airport and I travelled a lot around the world using budget car rentals before. Congrats to the SKG team and I’ll definitely book again with avance in the future!

Terrible Experience

Terrible car, terrible reception. I received a car wrecked - luckily I had full insurance. The gas gauge was going up and down for no reason and on the way back to the airport I almost missed my flight because two trouble lights came on - engine and exclamation point - and the car gradually slowed down until it turned off at exit 14 of Attica Street. That's it for the car. As for the service, I filled the car up to the point where I picked it up at the gas station just before the airport. However, by the time I got it to your clerk the gauge had gone down again which as I mentioned was broken as the car had a lot of electrical issues. Instead of understanding, he asked me to pay 15 euros for a little gas difference and delayed me even more (besides the delay due to the car breakdown) with the risk of missing my flight. Me and my husband, Zafeirios Loupos, have rented your cars many times and for many days and I expected a better treatment. That's it for the service. Since you wanted to read them in detail, you and your prospective future tenants.

You were served by our station at Athens airport. We do not particularly understand your review. You had made a reservation for category A and received on 2/12/2022 a Fiat Panda of category B. On your return on 3/12/2022, the employee informed you that there was a difference in fuel. You received the vehicle with 3/8 fuel and returned it with 2/8 fuel. When the employee informed you about the fuel, you expressed your displeasure, stating that you would not pay the difference and that you were missing your flight. Again, we are sorry for your criticism, but there is no possibility of not notifying the respective customer of any pending situation arising from his side. Nevertheless, we will be happy to serve you again in the future.

100 percent recommend the firm!

We are very pleased with the excellent service!
After a long night flight, I was pleased with the excellent service, and instant delivery of the car, the car was in the cleanest condition.
Despite the cold night, the car was warmed up, which created additional convenience and comfort, and of course, the music … Music was playing on the radio which lifted the mood.
Achilleas was very kind the car was served within a short time less than a minute. Special thanks to him)
Good pricing policy.
It was easy to check in and check out and all the staff was very friendly and attentive.

The whole team seemed very friendly! Brilliant!
We can absolutely recommend Avance -100 percent recommend the firm!

I am very disappointed and frustrated…

I am very disappointed and frustrated by our experience.

They gave us a very nice car to drive but the colleague that gave us the keys didn’t take any pictures of the car (for any possibles scratches) that previous renters might have done. He was only pretending that he was taking notes of them.

However, when returned the car we figured that these notes did not exist and they started blaming us for the scratches on one of the wheels and asked us to pay for it!

Luckily, we took photos of the scratches ourselves so we could prove that they were lying!

Always TAKE PHOTOS of the car before you start using it. Otherwise they are going to CHARGE you for things you didn’t do..

Everything good.

Everything good.
We rent a car for few days in Athens.
Less than 100euros for 3 days,
It took us 10min(each) to take and to give back the car.
We received a free upgrade for a small SUV, it was really nice.
