Made a genuine offer via Auto Trader and this ignorant organisation couldn't be bothered to give the courtesy of a reply

I left a Google review which was…

I left a Google review which was replied to by auto Sussex, but unfortunately, I could not reply to that. I would like to say that the valuation on my car was not a fair valuation as Charles hadn’t even bothered to look around it or start it up or look at the evidence of a £600 service being done on it no more than three months ago when asked where he got his valuation from he said well that’s just what we would give you . I have been to other car dealerships that have offered me £4000 for my Car and have expressed what good condition it is in. As I stated in my Google review, I was only selling due to my husband’s recent disability no other reason. The Car I was looking at was a year newer and in an awful condition. My car was bought from a reputable dealer who deals in high-end cars and had only taken this one on a part exchange. They put six months warranty on it plus £600 service it was validated inside and out and there was not a mark on it. So when Charles says his car isn’t eight year-old Car, what do I expect? I expect it not to have a big crack in the bumper a massive scratches all over the body Work. Plus I would also like to state that the service history was missing as I have noticed people have said the same in their reviews they have left.
It is very easy to come back and leave a comment that cannot be replied to but auto Sussex need to learn that there are other platforms we can leave our reviews on. And hard working People. are investing their money, they expect honesty.

NO Customer after care

NO Customer after care - they don't give a two figs once they have your money. Telephoned on the day my vehicle was delivered to say that I didn't have the log book. Told that it has been done online. Telephoned a bit later asking about the vehicle's manual - only to be told that the manual is online - okay. Unnecessarily abrupt but ok. However,.......

Because some idiot can't spell my name properly, I've been unable to get the log book for the vehicle for the past 5 weeks. Log book eventually turned up yesterday after I had to wait 4 weeks and then to apply by post paying an additional fee of £25.00.

I went to assign my personalised number plate which I had on retention - I should have been been able to do online but couldn't.

After a long and very drawn out saga telephoning the DVLA, it transpires that this could have been avoided IF my name had been spelt correctly by Auto Sussex. I'm now waiting for the log book with my personalised number plate to turn up BUT with my incorrect surname so I can then return it to the DVLA requesting that they amend my name - BOOKER not BROOKER!!!!!!! What absolute MUPPETS! It's not difficult!

Knew I should have bought from a main dealer and not some Mickey Mouse outfit.

Avoid at all costs

I purchased a car from Auto Sussex in November 2024, which was advertised as having gone through all their checks and having a full service history.

Within a week, I returned the vehicle, reporting that the engine felt sluggish and was occasionally misfiring. They inspected it and dismissed my concerns, telling me everything was fine.

Fast forward eight months, and a Land Rover specialist diagnosed a cylinder 1 combustion fault — the engine was a complete write-off. The mechanic advised this issue likely existed at the time of purchase, meaning the car was sold to me in this condition.

On further investigation, I discovered that Auto Sussex had misrepresented the service history. It wasn’t a “full” history as claimed — the last service had been carried out nine months late, making it a partial history at best.

When I confronted the dealership, Stuart became aggressive and defensive over the phone, offering no support or accountability.

This wasn’t a cheap or high-mileage vehicle — it had only 43,000 miles, yet I lost over £10,000 in just seven months.

My recommendation: avoid Auto Sussex entirely. Dishonest, dismissive, and ultimately very expensive.

Outstanding post-sales service. When it went wrong - they fixed it. And didn't moan or quibble.

I am really very impressed with Autosussex. I bought a Mercedes from them and when I got it home found it had two or three faults which amounted to nearly £2000 of work. In fairness to the company the faults were not immediately visible and their oversight was understandable although annoying. However, the quality of a good company is how they deal with you when there is a problem; Autosussex were EXCELLENT. The recognised that I was a long way from them and to pop back for them to fix (as was their right) would be a major inconvenience. Instead they immediately authorised a local Mercedes garage to make all the necessary repairs; the did not quibble with the quote and paid immediately. I now have a pristine Mercedes that I am very happy with and a dealership that I will return to in two years when it is time to replace. Well done Autosussex. As far as I am concerned you are the benchmark of quality post sales customer service and I will very happily recommend you to anyone thinking of buying a car from you. Thank you.
