Ordered a recon turbo but no refund for my old turbo as agreed!

Ordered a recon turbo which arrived to the garage, it was fitted and everything at the moment seems to be ok. However, i was promised that if i returned the old 'broken' turbo i would get a part refund. Clearly like everyone else on here that is not the case. Read the T&C's people because if the old part is returned 'broken' you do not get a refund. Which begs the question why do i need to order a recon turbo then.... because my one is BROKEN!
I wouldn't say its a scam, but clearly very misleading. Very disappointing and I would avoid them and just pay the extra with a local company.
