We bought a car from Autohero in March 2025 and also paid extra for the Premium Coverage because we wanted peace of mind and protection in case something went wrong.
Everything seemed fine during the first 100 days and through the first year. But in 2026, when we took the car for service, we discovered that previous maintenance had either been done incompletely or not done at all. The biggest issue was that the timing belt, which should have been replaced in 2024, had never actually been changed.
We contacted Autohero immediately. They asked for proof, which we provided. Despite this, they kept rejecting the claim. The entire process became an exhausting back and forth that lasted for weeks: sending documents, getting rejected, calling customer service again, reopening the case, sending more proof, and repeating the same explanations over and over.
After several calls, we finally managed to speak with a quality manager. We explained the entire situation and he even admitted that Autohero should cover this issue, but said they needed an official letter from Citroën confirming the required repairs and maintenance issues.
So we drove one hour to the nearest Citroën service center, got the official letter explaining clearly that some maintenance had been done incompletely and other required maintenance had not been done at all, and sent everything over exactly as Autohero requested.
Then Autohero completely changed their position again.
Suddenly their response was: yes, that may be what Citroën considers necessary maintenance, but Autohero is a second-party dealer and does not follow Citroën “rules.”
So after they asked us to get official proof, they then decided Citroën’s professional assessment no longer mattered.
Their response was basically: “Good thing we double checked, because this is actually not covered. You should have informed yourself about what maintenance a car needs before buying it.”
That answer is honestly outrageous.
We specifically paid for Premium Coverage to avoid exactly this kind of situation. Their answer was that the coverage only applies if something breaks after purchase, not if required maintenance was never done before the car was sold.
In the end, they hid behind policies and the expired 100-day period to avoid taking any responsibility at all.
Now we are left with a repair bill of around €3,000 for something that should have already been taken care of before the car was sold in the first place.
The worst part is not only the money, but the way Autohero handled the entire situation: endless calls, contradictory information, wasted time, and weeks of back and forth just to finally be told “not our problem.”
The Premium Coverage is completely useless. It honestly feels like a sales tactic designed to make customers feel protected until the moment they actually need help.
At this point, save yourself the stress and spend the extra money buying a new car or buying from a dealership that actually takes responsibility for the vehicles they sell. What you “save” buying from Autohero can quickly disappear in repair costs they refuse to take responsibility for later anyway.

Also for us, it would have been helpful if the website also had English.

My first order was cancelled with the explanation that “the vehicle was no longer available,” despite previously being told the car was reserved while my finance application was awaiting a decision.
On my second attempt, I proceeded with the purchase and paid a €3,000 deposit. However, when I arrived to collect the vehicle, I was introduced to a handover representative who stated he was not directly employed by the company and was acting as a third party.
After inspecting the vehicle, I found several issues that had not been disclosed beforehand, including a broken hood release lever, a power tailgate that would not open, and an overall condition that I personally felt did not match the advertisement.
I politely asked whether the defects could be resolved and whether collection could be rearranged once the vehicle was in proper working order. I was told that I could either take the vehicle as it was or cancel the purchase. When I contacted customer support, I received a similar response.
Unfortunately, I had also taken time off work and incurred costs in arranging the pickup.
I decided to give the company another chance and attempted to purchase a third vehicle, hoping my previous experiences were isolated incidents. However, after several days of communication with the finance department and providing all requested documents promptly, I was again informed that the reserved vehicle was no longer available.
Based on my personal experience, I found the overall process frustrating and disappointing. I rarely leave negative reviews, and this is my first review on Trustpilot

I am writing this rating too late as I didn't know this platform. Well, I ordered my car online on January 21 2023. I tested the car for 21 days and everything seemed ok. However, after almost a month the battery of my car died in the middle of the road, and I had to buy a replacement, which cost me extra money. Then I saw the navigator is malfunctioning and I alwayshave had to use my cell phone when I travel. The third was the tires! I was happy to buy my first car in Germany and never looked closely at the tires, which I had to change after 5 minutes because they were extremely thin. All in all, while the offers look good some times on this platform, the devil is in the details. Therefore only one star for Autohero. Here is my order number 'Bestellnummer - DEBF482138' from Autohero to prove this is a real purchase!

After many attempts to get concrete information, except for being told on the phone that I must order online, repeated times and times over, there was no further feedback or follow-up to my written mail and request for specific details, including legal questions. A clear giveaway and I decided to look elsewhere.
If they're not able (or rather willing) to provide clear details and information BEFORE a binding online order, then they cannot be trusted.

You cannot identify me as a customer?! Then you are in even bigger chaos than I thought.
I have been getting offers from you (almost daily) ever since I created the account last month.
From 6th until 19th March, I and my girlfriend enquired repeatedly about car PM86549 in which we were interested. TWO phone calls where NO details or answers were provided except that we MUST order online to start the process. FOUR mail enquiries (2 through Automobil.de and 2 directly by email) asking for specific details before we commit to order, the last one on 19th April to your "Sales Manager" Ferenc Kaminek... with NO answers whatsoever to our enquiries, nothing.
That is clear and plain SCAM behaviour, and now that I've read other negative comments of horrible experiences with you, I'm glad we took no chance.
