No support when things go wrong – useless "insurance"

I booked a car through Auto Europe and paid for their "full insurance" cover in advance. When the local provider (Sicily by Car) refused to accept my digital credit card and forced me to buy a second, expensive insurance policy, I contacted Auto Europe for help.

Their customer service acknowledged that I was paying for insurance twice and understood the situation, yet stated there was "nothing they could do." If a broker cannot protect its customers from being shaken down for extra fees by their partners, they provide no value. I essentially paid Auto Europe for insurance that was rendered useless, and they offered zero compensation or support. Completely ridiculous service.

Full coverage is a fraud

We purchased full coverage, yet Auto Europe still owes us money more than a year after the accident. Their customer service is unresponsive and unhelpful, and the claims process is extremely slow and frustrating. This is an awful company with awful service. I would strongly advise others to avoid them.

Misleading prices and hidden charges — paid almost double at pickup

I booked a Citroën C3 (non-electric) through Auto Europe for $290.57 total, including all fees, and paid in full. When I arrived at Europcar Rome Fiumicino Airport, they said my booking was for an electric car — not what I selected. To get a normal gas car, I had to pay about €100 extra, plus another €100 “age fee”, even though my age was clearly entered when booking.

In the end, I was charged about $531 total, nearly double what Auto Europe advertised. The pricing was misleading and not transparent. Had I known the real cost, I would have chosen another company.

Auto Europe should clearly display the actual total price and ensure Europcar honors what customers book. Terrible experience — I will not book through them again.

Useless operator unable to solve paid…

Useless operator unable to solve paid rental car repeating "no refund available" probably due to shortage of car class I had reserved 45 days prior to timely arrival.
Auto Europe is there to take money and find excuses not to find replacement provider or offer any solution.
Other local provider had no problem renting a car with same documents.

terrible company

terrible company. don't use. not in the airport (Naples) . had to walk ages to find them and then queue up for an eternity. seemed like a good deal at first and then.......had to pay a huge insurance premium (the same as it cost to insure my car at home for a year) one reason given was, tyres always get damaged in Naples (looked on the policy, tyres not covered). Got a speeding ticket :-( I didn't have to pay it but Auto One got another €50 out of my bank account). The only good thing about this company was the ride back to the terminal after dropping the car off. better than a roller coaster ride.

I would give zero stars if possible

I would give zero stars if possible. Our flight was delayed by 2 hours and we arrived in Palermo to find the office closed. The following day the local supplier informed us that our 2 week booking was cancelled and we must speak with Auto Europe. Auto Europe have refused to arrange another car or a refund. DO NOT use this dodgy firm

Everything was average but the MAIN issues:
1. this company doesn't check the rental company that ARE NOT in the terminal. I rented in Malpensa and searched specifically for a car rental in the terminal. B-RENT was suggested but it's 4km away with only Airport bus (every 15 minutes available from terminal 1). Very bad suggestion since I almost missed my flight due to this unfortunate event.
2. they don't have an email where you can send your review. Try to search in the website, in. my booking, in my booking managing: NO WAY !!!
This guys don't want to be bothered by my review.
I will try to use them if I have no other choice

Hired a car through Auto Europe

Hired a car through Auto Europe, but the company providing the car would not accept my uk driving licence. Auto Europe unable to help or move my booking so lost the whole amount and didn’t get a hire car so had to use another company. Do not use them.

One star is one too many

One star is one too many. I booked a car whilst at Bergamo airport and 460euros was paid by credit card. We went to collect the cat ftom the AutoEurope desk, where the very helpful staff member looked at the booking on our phone and realised the pickup was from Bristol in the UK! He spoke to a representative of the company in the phone, who told him twice in the conversation that a full refund would be paid. Two weeks later, this has not happened. Trying to contact them is seemingly impossible. The worst customer service I have EVER cone across.

I filled out a form on AutoEuropa to…

I filled out a form on AutoEuropa to rent a car from Bologna Airport. I accidentally entered my wife's credit card information on the form. The money was withdrawn from the card, but my reservation was canceled because the name on the card was different. (Or at least I think that's what happened.) The refund has not been processed yet. You cannot contact the company by any means other than phone, and there are no email addresses listed anywhere. Since my English is not very good, I cannot call and inquire about the situation.

Extremely Disappointing

My experience with Auto Europe was extremely disappointing. I booked a car through their service (Voucher № EU22630753), providing all required information, including my flight number so that the rental provider could track any delays.

On the day of the rental, my flight was delayed. Upon arrival at the pick-up point, I was informed that no car would be provided. Auto Europe refused to refund the payment, claiming I was responsible for personally reporting the delay. This raises the question: why do they request flight numbers if they do not use this information to assist the customer?

In fact, the rental service was not provided. Nevertheless, the company retained the full payment, refused to accept responsibility, and even refused to verify whether the payment was passed on to the actual rental provider.

I consider these actions to be wrongful retention of funds for an unprovided service. The company completely dissociated itself from any responsibility and demonstrated absolute disregard for customer support.

I do not recommend using Auto Europe. In any unexpected situation, you will be left entirely on your own, without assistance and without a refund.

Not clear at all that credit card needs to be in drivers name. Once at car rental
place autovia they said no debit card (but all other rental companies around did) and cancelled our booking which was already paid for. Auto Europe Italia then said I needed to give 48 hours notice which I couldn’t do as found out once in airport! And then charged £70 cancellation fee and still no further whether I will get my remaining fund back.

They try to foulard around

They tried to give me a car full of dents and scratches , I refused it and they gave me a smaller one no matter I paid for a medium. Then the tank was not full and once back they wanted to charge me because I did not filled it up

No car on day of arrival. Despite paying months in advance.

The Worst Experience – Avoid This Company at All Costs

We’ve been traveling to Italy for over 10 years and always hire our cars at the airport without any issues—until now. This was our first time traveling with our newborn baby, and we booked our car well in advance, setting the collection time for 10 AM and paying in full for 14 days.

Due to our baby’s needs, we had to change our flight to a later time, arriving at 2 PM. At no point did I think we needed to notify the car hire company, since the car was already paid for in full. But when we arrived, we were told our booking had been cancelled because we didn’t collect the car at exactly 10 AM. No warning, no grace period, no courtesy call—just canceled and no car.

Worse still, we were left completely stranded at the airport with a newborn baby. When we asked about a refund, we were told we had to pay an additional £75 fee just to get our money back. Absolutely appalling.

The staff were shockingly rude and unhelpful. The first thing we were told on the phone was: “Eh, we’re not going to hold your car for 14 days!”—as if any normal person would book a car and just not show up.

When we asked for another vehicle, we were told the price had tripled and that the next available car would be in six hours. Again, with a newborn. No effort to assist, no apology, nothing.

On top of everything, the company advertises that car pickup is “in-terminal.” In reality, you have to take a shuttle bus—a clear case of false advertising.

Completely unprofessional, dishonest, and lacking even the most basic level of customer care. If you value your sanity, your family’s comfort, or simply expect the service you paid for, stay far away from this company

Left Stranded with No Help

Extremely disappointed with Auto Europe. We booked a car through them with Avis in Catania. Due to a flight delay, we arrived one day late—only to be told at the Avis counter that our reservation had been canceled, and there was nothing they could do.

We immediately tried contacting Auto Europe for help. It took seven hours after landing to finally reach someone by phone, and when we did, the representative was dismissive and told us nothing could be done until Monday. I’ve also sent multiple emails that remain completely unanswered.

There has been zero real-time support, no accountability, and no urgency—just radio silence when we needed help most. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and stressful. I would strongly advise against booking with Auto Europe if you need a company that stands by its service or responds when plans change.

It’s common practice for car rental companies worldwide to reserve the right, in the event of a pick-up delay, to re-rent the vehicle without the prospect of a refund to the original renter. This policy is set by the individual car rental companies and, regretfully, as a broker, Auto Europe has no control over this. All we can do is try to ensure our clients are aware of it by including that information in the booking confirmation and in the voucher.

Please note that should your flight be delayed/canceled, you should always contact Auto Europe and inform us of the delay, so that we may contact the car hire company on your behalf and do our best to help you work things out. Otherwise, the car hire company may not hold the vehicle past the initially agreed-upon pick-up time.

In cause of a flight delay inside the EU, caused by the airline company. You have to contact the airline company to request compensation.
Though we have no control over the policies of our partners, we strive to ensure the best possible solution for our clients. Should you wish us to intervene on your behalf, our Customer Team could contact the supplier and try to obtain a goodwill refund. Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee a positive outcome.
