Been using this for a few years and haven't had any issues. It makes my older CPU (Ryzen 7 3700X) perform better in games and thanks to it my 16 gigs of ram are still enough for what I do. (Playing g... See more

Disappointment

It did not increase FPS and on the contrary, it made my computing experience more difficult, as well as packet loss and lag download speed in games

security......

Most people just look at the slight performance boost, but underneath this "operating system" is a nightmare. It removes updates, antivirus and other security features. It doesn't even tell you that it removes the anti-virus, so you could install a one yourself.

OBS Performance Improvements

Back then, trying to record Project DIVA with x264 Low CPU on OBS at 30FPS was so resource-intensive I could barely make it past a few first notes on HARD. When I try Atlas, however, with the same amount of mods I gave to Windows (StartisBack, alcatel Windows 7 theme, DWMBlurGlass, etc...) recording with x264 feels so stable now, and I can still get myself a good score & rating in most EXTREME plays. I'm stuck at 30FPS and x264, though. NVENC is not supported and QSV return errors

All the compatibility & performance of WIndows with none of the BS

Windows has only gotten worse with every new version & major update.
But unfortunately Linux software compatibility isn't all there, some workarounds & alternatives aren't that easy to find or intuitive to use and for some demanding games that run below your refresh rate and use freesync, they can take a noticeable hit to performance. Microstuttering mainly.

I used to use Windows 10 with a debloater script but the latest version of Win 11 isn't that compatible, and even then there's still so much stuff that isn't removed or reverted to work like Windows 10 (or older) used to.

Other modified versions of Windows also remove way too many features which make it impossible or annoying to add them back.

Altas OS on the other hand is up to date, supporting the latest build of Win 11 (23H2) and is in active development.
You still have access to the Microsoft Store, Game mode, game bar, all the graphics improvements, Windows Update, whatever other features you'd want.

You can reinstall whatever apps that have been removed, toggle on or off many different features POST install.

Win 11 with Atlas OS & StartAllBack pretty much made me stay with Windows and all my software instead of switching over to Linux and having to deal with so many compromises due to Win 10 being EoL very soon.

If you have a high end gaming PC, especially if you have older hardware, try it out.
You need a clean install but it'll run MUCH better and be less annoying than stock Windows.

I'm not sure if I missed toggling on some option or if Atlas OS just removed the feature(s) completely but on my Ryzen 5000U laptop I wasn't able to get the super low wattage idle states and my estimated battery remaining on a text based website was pretty low, around 6-7 hours instead of the regular 12+ I get on a stock debloated Win 11 install despite having all the necessary drivers installed.

Best Optimization For windows 10/11

ENGLISH

So I used Atlos OS at the end of 2022 and had a rather negative experience because all the drivers were screwed up and some DLS files were deleted or otherwise unusable. Now at the end of 2023 I had installed it again and wanted to be convinced again that this time it was positive because everything actually worked great again, there is now a simpler installation (before that it was an installation via an iso file that deleted everything when you flashed it) which spares all the files and no longer deletes anything but is simply installed via a program that simply switches off or deletes the files and other things. This is simply a big improvement because it comes across as more trustworthy and is simple, everything you need, i.e. reinstalling drivers or other disabled things, is in one folder. Finally, you can say that the performance is also getting better and the fps numbers are increasing rapidly. So if someone has an old laptop or a mining PC you can really use this very well 10/10

PS: sorry if the english is bad im german and didn't feel like it to write everything again xD

Performance might vary.

I installed new atlas version on my pc to see if it's better. At the start it all run smoothly and nice, processes were low and stuff after a while I had to reinstall systems (compatibility issues + pc crashed) and I decided to install Tiny10 and I tweaked it a little, processes are 80 at boot but performance wise it's 20-30% more fps in every game also I have no issue running any program unlike on atlas where I couldnt really run some applications, it's one of the best custom gaming os, but it doesnt mean its really good compared to self tweaking windows. If you want a real performance install normal windows or tiny10/11 and tweak it yourself.
6/10 (probably top 3 best gaming os)

This OS is the best of all the ones…

This OS is the best of all the ones I've tried, not only did it make my FPS in-game go from 500 - 600 to 1000-1400, but it actuallyy made my computer faster overall, I can finallyy edit on After Effects without a problem, and when I'm playing a game, I don't have to worry 'bout my FPS dropping as its consistent, I own a gtx 1650 laptop, and it even uses less RAM which is such a game changer, defo recommending this OS for other gamers out there.

Mouse bad experience in gaming

Mouse fell so bad when I apply "disable power saving" and i need to revert it back to "enable power saving" script from the folder.
I want the default windows mouse experience i don't need any registry modification for mouse or keyboard...
I think is better to enable the box from Device Manager--->Power Management--->Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power! When i tick this box for usb the mouse work well and fine (better gaming experience) and when I untick the box mouse feels bad in games...
IDK this is my opinion...
