We desired to arrive at the guest house by early evening. However, when we called to inform them that we would be arriving at 8 p.m., the woman who answered the phone was incredibly impolite. We were informed, in a passive-aggressive manner, that because our departure from London, there is no certainty that we will arrive by 8 p.m. As the guesthouse is a family-run business, we were informed that we would not be allowed entry any time after 8pm. We had originally reserved a room for two nights, but as we had an event in Eastbourne the following day, we chose to check in the following day. We then chose to travel the following day. We came at 3 p.m. and rang the doorbell, but no one answered. We rang the doorbell for half an hour outdoors in vain. Someone peered out the window as we were leaving, but ignored us. We reserved this location via booking.com, which is an excellent booking website. The following day, though, booking.com listed us as no-shows. These individuals took our money for two nights; on the first night, we were told we could not check in, and on the second, we were left sitting outside with no response. We repeatedly dialled their number, but they refused to respond. Avoid at all costs. We found another hotel in the area which was a wonderful place to stay, The Willmington Hotel.
