Just completed my Yacht Master Theory with the team from Ardent and loved nearly every minute of the 3300 minutes spent refreshing and learning new skills. I feel as if I know some of the senior instructors like old friends having spent so long watching videos and rewatching some of the explanations on such knotty topics as secondary ports and setting courses to steer. My skills have moved forward immeasurably from Day skipper level despite being what I thought was a competent boat owner and frequent sailor on the West coast of Scotland. I will feel much more confident when I’m next out on the water knowing what I do now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the whole team.

I took the RYA Day Skipper Theory course. The course was engaging, well organized and well presented. It was also a rigorous course, and Ardent guided me through the hard work that I had put in to master the material. Everyone at Ardent was extremely helpful, encouraging and responded quickly to any query I had. This was crucial assistance when I got stuck on a particular section of the course. I have just finished and passed my Yachtmaster Theory Course with Ardent. I love the way the course has been designed for all types of learning styles with the video and slides format. The very personal way the videos are presented makes the lessons very engaging. The Knowledge tests are great with so many questions that I was still coming across new ones after multiple tries. Once I started using the chat feature, I was amazed how quick and responsive the instructors were. Everyone is so friendly and encouraging and are extremely good educators. I will strongly recommend Ardent Training to anyone wanting to take RYA theory courses.

I've been working my way through the course for a while now and what really impresses me is the feedback you get when you have questions. If you ask a question in the live chat you usually get a response within a minute, and when I completed a module on chart work where I had to submit photos of my work, I got it marked and sent back to me (with annotated notes) within about 15 mins which is amazing. They really seem to be well on top of really helping people out which is fantastic, as this is what you need for an online course! Awesome all round!

I have taken the Yachmaster Offshore theory course and was very happy with the course work, but even more so with the responsiveness of the Ardent staff. Whether it was questions (also stupid ones!), module assessment or the final exams, they were ever so helpful and very responsive, polite, patient, encouraging and generally very nice people. Couldn't say enough positive things about Ardent.

A very high-quality course (RYA Day Skipper) that teaches all the essential knowledge step by step, ensuring you not only understand it but also know how to apply it in practice.
It is an e-learning course with live human support available whenever needed. You can study at your own pace, revisit topics as often as you like, and ask any questions along the way.
Money well spent. Ardent Training will certainly be my choice for further studies.

I recently completed the RYA Day Skipper Theory course through Ardent Training, and I have only the very highest praise for the entirety of my course experience. The course material is very thorough and comprehensive, well presented, and easy to follow and understand. Members of the Ardent team responded within minutes of my questions, and their responses were always professional, helpful, supportive, and insightful; they definitely wanted me to learn the material. The knowledge checks and assessments within each module of course material were well designed and focused on the most important topics and materials. The mock exam allowed me to gain a sense of my strengths and weaknesses, and get prepared for the final exam. The numerous additional online resources are definitely worth reviewing and downloading, and the student forum gave me the opportunity to connect with other students. I took some basic sailing courses several years ago, and Ardent Training was definitely superior. I highly recommend Ardent Training, and am already considering another course with them!

This series of short videos is a great way to learn. Each video makes a few key points and there is time to digest the information and make notes before moving on to the next video. The course took longer than expected due in part to the exercises and tests. That said, more exercises (optional, with answers) would help those who need more practice to become faster for the timed RYA exam. The resources on the Ardent Training site are excellent. I made flip cards as a learning tool. You might consider adding flip cards that can be printed on regular paper and cut up by the student (8 cards/page).

The materials we received are awesome. The lessons and the instructors that give them are very good indeed. Step by step explanations that are really clear. the team is very helpful in clarifying doubts and queries and above all during the exam.

I recently completed Ardent’s Day Skipper Theory course. The standard of the course material is outstanding. For me, I found this course better than an in person course (I have done an in person RYA course before). Mainly because the learning material is brilliant and always available if I wanted a recap on anything. Other reasons are the training was delivered in a very personable way - you get to know the instructors and their sailing anecdotes through all the video content. The videos are backed up with excellent text, photo and diagram content. The knowledge checks and module assessments are great for learning and revision. Instructors reply to questions online within minutes. I have already strongly recommended this course to others and will continue doing so.

As repeat customer following their RYA Day Skipper course that set me up for success in the practical course I would highly recommend Ardent to anyone globally and who needs to work at their own pace. They are a highly talented and experienced team of instructors. They are wonderful to work with and their online learning management system is excellent. The material is exceptional providing me with a much better understanding of decision making as a skipper and expanded my knowledge in the areas weather, restricted visibility, systems, emergency situations, passage planning, and the COLREGS. They are clear in their explanations and focus on very practical scenarios. In addition to safely operating my own 45ft boat the RYA standard will enable my family to charter in locations we plan to visit in the coming years.
