Avoid the ANZ
Avoid the ANZ. They have deteriorated to the most unhelpful, unwilling and effortless of the banks, and I am (soon to be ''was'') a lifelong customer. A lot of their functions are now offshored even though they perpetuate the lie that they are all ANZ based. Avoid, go elsewhere, search for good deals, hold these substandard banks, lenders and staff to account. They've had it too good for too long.

Issues with credit card overseas, no customer support.
I had two issues with my credit card while recently being overseas, and the support was practically zero. I used the ANZ App, which they strongly recommend to be used. Responses take ages, and the operators do not seem to know anything. An generic Internet query is much more useful, however, if your card appears blocked, you need ANZ support, which is almost impossible to receive. Imagine to be left without a working credit card while overseas, only to receive zero suport?! I remember just 10 years ago , when I called them in a similar situation, and straight away I had a human answering the phone, and the issue was solved in 5 minutes... This is a totally different ANZ, it is like they want to get rid of their loyal, normal people customers. At least they should tell us that they do not want our business.
Worst phone customer service of all banks
I called to ask about a balance transfer with my approved credit card.
After an hour of being transferred and on hold, I come back to the first phone agent who transferred me. I asked for a manager and after jumping through 20 minutes more of ID questions and on hold, I finally got to speak to a manager and told them to make sure my feedback of never dealing with anz again gets passed on because of todays phone musical chairs and service and to terminate my letter of offer.
No other bank Ive dealt with is this poor in service.

I am extremely disappointed with ANZ Bank. Their “Know Your Customer” process is an absolute mess. When I first opened my account, I submitted all the required documents and information. However, ANZ repeatedly contacted me, asking for the same information over and over again – information I had already provided. Clearly, ANZ has serious issues with document management and record-keeping.
Even worse, despite this being entirely the bank’s fault, ANZ has the audacity to threaten its customers by saying their accounts will be locked if they don’t resubmit documents. This is completely unacceptable. Instead of taking responsibility for losing documents, they shift the burden onto the customer with ultimatums.
This level of incompetence and poor communication is disgraceful for a major bank. I expected professionalism and efficiency, but instead I’ve experienced nothing but frustration. I would not recommend ANZ to anyone.

I also called 131314 and waited more than 50minutes to get a customers service representative. However after less than 2 minutes talk over the phone, the line was bad, and my call was aborted.

I wish I could give them a minus score. I got scammed on my ANZ CC and tried to contact them shortly after the scam. It took ages to get someone to talk to me. They did nothing. I then cancelled my CC with them and wanted a final pay out figure but after waiting 30 minutes on the phone and then having them hang up on me I went into one of their branches to find this out. No communication saying my account was closed and my final payout figure. I did use their complaint procedure but I'm still waiting for a reply.
Their communication with customers is deplorable and I will never bank with them again.

I am writing this while waiting on an ANZ representative. I have been on the phone now 1 hour 59 minutes and 46 seconds. I have spoken to 4 people, all of whom said they can't help me, but will direct me to the correct place. This poor guy has no idea what is going on... but unfortunately, I am now close to tears and cannot cope with being asked to wait and be put into another queue. Now 2 hours and 2 minutes. Two mortgage amounts have been taken out of my account two days in a row. I am already under mortgage stress, will have to sell my home. I cannot cope with this. I need to work, I cannot do my work when I am on the freaking phone.
I am really exhausted from ANZ
I am really exhausted from ANZ. It is 15 years that I transfer all my salary to my access account there, I had my first home loan with them, saving account and personal loans but they never was so stupid that they are today. My credit rating is excellent and I applied for a$12000 personal loan last Thursday. First of all the staff applying for me did not know too much about her job and after several times asking her colleagues for help finished my application after 2 hours. one day after she called me and ask some questions raised by their credit check team and I answered, and today after 5 days she again called and asked stupid question raised again from their credit check team. My home mortgage is in joint name of me and my wife but because it is paid from my ANZ account then they want to put all cost in my side, but for other expenses that my wife pays for them they want to put %50 of them in my side and other stupid questions. So as the result I withdrawn my application.
If I applied with any other bank, I am sure it was approved in 24 hours but ANZ has become so stupid that prefers to annoy its own customers and encourage me to transfer all my salary to other banks.
Everything is slow and manual
Their systems and processes seem to be all manual and incredibly slow taking days when my current bank is instantaneous.
I couldn’t even get a confirmation letter that my personal loan had been paid out, meaning I had to wait a month for my credit record to update and show the loan closed. But even that didn’t happen! So I had to call again only to be told there’s nothing they could do. It took 3mths to get my record cleared of this loan and it was weeks to get it in the first place and multiple calls from people.
Just don’t waste your time if you want to bank in the 21st century then they aren’t the bank for you!

Worst bank, have been a customer for over 45 years with them...ANZ fraudulently paid out nearly $10,000 of my money to a scammer...despite having the 'fraud falcon' in place as they promote. ANZ have accepted no responsibility for leaving me out of pocket. The bank manager lied, having never spoken to me she made a statement against me, each time I speak to the investigation team they put a new excuse onto me and try to say I did it, without any evidence, even though I can show otherwise. They accused me of being a 3rd party to the crime. The customer service is beyond terrible and they are extremely negligent in their handling of other people's money. At no time did they put a 'freeze' on the money going out of my account, even though they had 2 day's before it was processed to stop it, ANZ contributes on online crime, and gets away with it.
I'm not stopping till my money is returned to me. But they have now lost me as a customer after 45 years of loyalty.
They need to employ a few more people
They need to employ a few more work from home personnel to answer a telephone. Appalling. Always get "we are getting unexpected call volumes" Then huge delays.

I found that a lot of the staff there are very helpful. However, it keeps getting longer and longer to connect with real people, local branches keep shutting, and as a consumer, it feels that profits are the only criteria...that as a customer I am no longer valued.
