Not only are Amok's products incredibly well designed and well built, their customer service is absolutely fantastic (I'm talkin' grandma w/cookies nice)!

After discovering them and watching a few videos, I emailed the company a few (that's code for an embarrassing amount of) questions. Being new to hammock camping and never having seen a 90 degree hammock, I was perplexed but also very curious. They answered my couple (droves of) questions promptly and thoroughly. They even anticipated some follow-up questions, which really amazed me aaaand...ultimately made me decide to make a purchase.

When you see gear that is obviously well designed - has a 100 day risk-free-trial return policy - a 5 year warranty - and then have such a great experience with friendly, knowledgeable staff, you just KNOW their products are going to be breathtakingly brilliant and better than bacon!

I bought a Draumr UL XL, the Skjold 10 UL tarp and Fjol sleeping pad. The purchase was easy and my shipment, from Norway to the U.S., was delivered in three days. I was suuuuper excited (that's code for, I'm an impatient idiot, so pfft, of course I skipped reading or researching instructions) and setting up all three items for the first time was incredibly easy and intuitive (again, I'm an idiot and it was Dr. Watson-level elementary).

I could immediately see that all three items were produced with excellent quality control. Especially surprising was the large and lightweight pump bag for blowing up the pad. Aimed the bag at the light breeze, bag filled easily due to it's light weight and the pad was at the perfect level of inflation in just four satisfying squeezes.

The Draumr is absolutely a dream to lay in! On your back, on your side, on your stomach. It's KerrAzy how comfortable and stable it is. I'm a side sleeper, so the lay-flat design, with plenty of room on either side of the pad to flop out my arms, is perfect for me.
Chair mode however, is going to be even better, I suspect. The ability to turn the Draumr into a chair that allows you to sit up OR recline, while you silently watch your buddies collect wood er...I mean, while you put on your shoes to go collect wood for your buddies...is just un..be..lievable!

You can often find great gear but you don't always find it being sold and supported by great people. When those two scenarios collide, you often find yourself online, writing a ridiculously long blurb and wishing it was the weekend!

I've used hammocks since I was a boy (almost 76 now), and my Draumr is hands down THE most comfortable sleep platform I've ever used. Add to that, the foolproof setup, the attention to detail and the highest quality workmanship, and it can't be surpassed.

First off, Draumr arrived within 2 days from the point of ordering - from Norway to South East Asia. That's faster than Speedy Gonzalez if he existed!

Like most of us, my hammock journey started with a traditional gathered hammock that served me well for many years before I graduated to (what I believed then) a glamper hammock Mock One for car camping. Then Draumr came into my feed. It was intriguing to say the least. A total setup of around 3kg together with tarp is definitely not one for the weight weenie but the weight penalty, to my mind, is easily offset from what appears to be superior comfort as seen on social media.

So is it all that it is cracked up to be? Having spent some days on it - I have to say that this is singularly the best hammock I have slept in. Admittedly for the longest time I always considered the Tensile to give potentially give the best sleep possible (theoretical - never bought one)- but the 3 tie-outs was a deal breaker for me.

The Draumr is just quality at every angle. From the fabric to the straps to the ridgeline to the clips to the stuff sack - it smells, feel and look every bit a premium product and quite clearly they didn't cut any corners. And what is also evident is that the Draumr is undeniably a work of love by passionate outdoors folks themselves by virtue of all the attention to detail in the overall structure, design and placement of everything. I scratched my head long and hard and couldn't find anything about Draumr that was not optimally placed.

I'm a 5ft 7 and my concerns about getting into the hammock turned true! The Amok videos and manuals make it look easy enough, but for me personally, it was far from the truth. After a few minutes of fiddling, I found the best way (and this continues to be my sole method of entry!) is to clamber in from the side by facing the Draumr (not buttocks first). So I will lean my body into the middle of Draumr (balance spot) and swing my left leg into it. Then I roll in. Yah. Seems awfully complicated but it works and is easy enough! That aside, I never felt at any time that I was at risk of tipping over at either end no matter how I was moving about on the Draumr - a testament to the design and balance of the Draumr.

I didn't purchase the Amok tarp - mainly due to budgetary concerns! so I'm relying on my 3x4 tarp for shelter from the elements. It doesn't look anywhere near as good as the Amok tarp but bottomline is, I have in my hands a hammock of my dreams! And that is what matters!

Draumr is not cheap. But once in your hands, you will no doubt realise that you are paying for superior quality all round and I dare you to feel shortchanged. You wouldn't.

I had ordered the Draumr after a long time of hearing how comfortable the hammock was. I just had to try it as I have struggled in the past getting some good rest while out camping. The pricing is very reasonable and the shipping from Norway to Minnesota was unbelievably fast.

That’s where I had an issue however, and it was no fault of Amok. DHL had dropped off my Draumr order when I wasn’t home and I had the unpleasant surprise of having the delivery go missing (presumed stolen). Amok was quick to assist and got in touch with DHL, and Amok had my back the whole way. Amok handled all the communication with DHL and sent a new order to relieve the burden. They were such a comfort to work with; having deliveries get lost is a stressful feeling but their customer support team was such a relief to talk to. Very friendly, prompt, and helpful.

While I know for a fact that the products Amok make will speak for themselves in comfort, craftsmanship, and quality over time- that is only half of what makes a company great. The other half is the people who work for the company, and Amok has gone above and beyond how they treat their customers. A great product can be ruined by poor customer service, luckily for Amok, the products they make are great and the team they have behind the company are dare I say better.

Due to my interactions with a few members of their team, Amok has a customer for life. I’ll be ordering more of what they have to offer and are recommending them to all of my friends as well. I’m backing Amok for the long run, and can’t say enough good things about them.

Their support team rocks. Received the replacement pad today. It is definitely a big reason I own three AMOK hammock systems and tell anyone who hasn't heard me and some who have heard me a few times - "get an AMOK hammock, especially if you have a bad knee and back plus sleep best on your side as I do."
At my age, I can do the gathered end still but I don't get the sleep as I use to when I was a couple of decades younger. In my AMOK system I absolutely sleep as good as I do in my bed at home AND I have no problems getting in and out, sleeping on my side and taking the 1 or 2 "extra pounds" of weight in my pack to get that "awesome" sleep when I'm hiking.
And when you couple all of that with AMOK's support, which I have used at least three times for setup issues and suggestions over the last 4 years, it is absolutely a win/win situation to own an AMOK hammock.

First off, the customer support and service is excellent. Truly excellent. The products offered by Amok are of exceptional quality and are a very good value for the money you spend. If you want an incredible hammock that is truly comfortable, this is the one you want. For those of you who are hesitating, go for it. It's worth the money.
