AmneziaVPN is an open-source VPN application that allows users to create a VPN on their own server (VPS) in just a few clicks. It supports protocols such as OpenVPN, WireGuard, ShadowSocks, OpenVPN over Cloak, X-Ray, and AmneziaWG. The app works with native-format keys and configuration files. It includes features like split tunneling, KillSwitch, and DNS protection against detection. Once a VPN is set up on a personal server, users can share the connection with trusted individuals or across their own devices. To deploy a personal VPN on a server, one needs to rent a VPS from any hosting provider, which costs no more than a subscription to any popular VPN service. The application has gained significant popularity in countries with high levels of internet censorship. In just the past three months, it has been downloaded by over 500,000 users, and the number of downloads continues to grow.

Good VPS

Good VPN. I installed it on my private server abroad and now blocked resources are loading. (And I live in Russia)

AmneziaWG — The Best Choice for High-Censorship Countries

I have been using AmneziaVPN on the AmneziaWG protocol for the past two months. In this short time, I have come to fully appreciate the clear superiority of both the application and the protocol over others in terms of speed, privacy, performance, and ease of setup.
Today, AmneziaWG is the best solution for countries with advanced DPI systems and whitelist-based internet restrictions, such as Russia.
The service features a beautiful, modern design and an exceptionally intuitive user interface. It is also supported by comprehensive documentation that clearly explains all the capabilities of AmneziaVPN and its supported protocols, including detailed setup instructions.
I would like to see a few additional features added to the app: cascade (multi-hop) connections between servers (VPS+VPS or VPS+DOMAIN), the option to set traffic limits, and the ability to define the validity period of access keys.
A big thank you to the entire Amnezia team for their excellent work and for providing crucial help to people living in countries with heavy internet censorship ❤️

Reliable VPN with Great Flexibility

I’ve been using Amnezia VPN for about a year. I use it in Europe (the Netherlands), mainly on my personal computer. I set up the connection myself following the instructions.

Overall, the service has left a positive impression. I especially like the flexibility and the ability to deploy your own VPN server, which gives more control and privacy compared to traditional VPN services. The connection speed is stable.

On the downside, the setup can be challenging for beginners, especially if you don’t have experience with servers. It can also take some time to understand updates or configuration changes.

I contacted support once — they responded fairly quickly and helped resolve my issue via chat.

Overall, I consider Amnezia VPN a good solution for those who want more control over their VPN and are willing to spend some time understanding the technical aspects.

My AmneziaVPN experience

I used Amnezia Premium for over a year, and everything was great. But out of curiosity, I switched to Amnezia Self-hosted. I set up several servers with varying specs; everything deployed quickly and worked fine. However, at some point, Gemini stopped working. I had to go back to Amnezia Premium, it offers plenty of locations, so I can always find one that works with all the services I need 🙃
