Ordered my Almazan knife from meatheadknives.com

Ordered my Almazan kitchen knife with Damascus blade through meathead knives. Lexar Distribution is the shipper. I got no confirmation email or notification when it shipped. My credit card was charged. Started reading the emails on here and got worried. Disputed the charge through pay pal and my bank. Lo and behold my knife shows up today, 12 days after I ordered. No problems with the knife at all, looks great, razor sharp. Just cut up a chicken for grilling. Notified bank and pay pal to cancel disputes. Other than not receiving any notifications, I'm totally satisfied with my experience and this terrific knife. The lack of communication from the vendor is the reason for 4 stars, otherwise it would rate a 5.

This is a great knife

This is a great knife, cuts finely with ease. A good size for everyday use. A longer would be a better for cutting bread but, apart from that, this knife is ideal.

Excellent quality retains a sharps edge…

Excellent quality retains a sharps edge and a thin blade makes slicing through 'sticky' substances like cheese. Sharpest blade in the house. The thinness and flexibility of the blade makes it superb for De-skinning all sorts of things e.g firsh, cheese, rind, tomatoes, magoes.

Superb knives

Superb knives. I look after them well. I keep them with the supplied sharpener which worked perfectly. The knives cut easily through meat and veg other knives struggle with. Top product.

Almazan Knives (Spain) vs Almazan Kitchen (Serbia)

There is confusion between the video production brand Almazan Kitchen and the Spanish knife makers Almazan Knives. I was confused at first myself. After some basic research, I understand that Almazan Kitchen does not make their own knives but orders premade knives from China. They are sharp, but by no means worth the $400+ they are charging. Almazan Knives has been making knives for a while, hand made. I ordered the Serbian knife seen in these videos from Almazan Knives. It cost around $110 shipped from Spain and I just received it today. The carbon steel is thick and sharpened at the edge to slice through anything. Amazing quality for the price, also arrived with a thick leather sheath that fits the knife perfectly. I saw on their website they are also offering layered steel versions for about $50 more. I'm genuinely impressed with Almazan Knives. They are actual knife makers, unlike Almazan Kitchen.

On a side note: Almazan Kitchen saying that all knives other than their $400 Chinese versions are fake is the reason some think that Almazan Knives (Spain) is a knockoff. This style of knife has been around for a long time and it's called a Serbian chef knife.

Terrible communication, knife needed work.

I've experienced the same issue as many others. I was not given an order confirmation. I was repeatedly told to check my spam folder. I've disputed the charges through American Express.

*Update*

I eventually received my order. I had to do significant work to make the knife useful in the kitchen. The craftsmanship was low and had many flat spots. After re-profiling the edge and sharpening, I do really enjoy the knife now.

*Update 2*

I don't think your specs include a large flat spot on the blade, 2 inches from the tip.

Honest Almazan Knife Review

After watching the Youtube channel with the two Serbian Brothers cooking with this classic knife, I decided I had to have one. I contacted them via Facebook Messenger (Which I automatically viewed as kind of sketchy), and found that they wanted approximately $350 US for their version of the "authentic" Almazan knife. I then researched the Almazanknives.com version, which was $89 US. Being unsure as to which one was "authentic" and that both were to be purchased from "overseas" providers, I chose the cheaper version and ordered from Alamazanknives.com. First, this is supposedly a hand-foraged knife, which I had some doubts. However, after receiving mine, all of the minor imperfections and cosmetics lead me to believe that just perhaps, it was. This is not a "beautiful" knife, but it is not supposed to be. I ordered the "Bushcraft" version. The weight and balance is really nice. Blade on mine was straight and I received it with no issues after about a 1 month wait time. However, mine was not sharp. I immediately got my Work Sharp belt sharpening out and sharpened it, which took about 20 minutes after I got it where I wanted it (shaving arm hair). The leather scabbard, in my opinion, is cheap and not the quality of scabbards that I have from some of my custom hunting knives. All in all, I am pretty pleased with it, and it will probably last a lifetime. It is what it is, or supposed to be--a hand forged, rustic knife that you can use in the kitchen or to cut down a tree at camp. I personally like it, and for $89 US, I feel I got about what I expected. Do not pay the $350 to the Serbian guys. After all, I research the country of Serbia and the average monthly wage of a resident of that country is, u guessed it, approximately $350 US! I have some really nice $200-$300 chef knives and I will probably always reach for this. I hope this review helps, and I would say it is worth what it cost.

Almazan Knives' Third Party Vendor Fisaco

Despite the recent negative reviews, I decided to give this company a chance and was completely disappointed. Apparently, both Almazan Knives and another company Meathead Knives (both whom sells the item) uses the same third party vendor called Lexar Distribution (who uses Shopper Support.com to facilitate and address customer concerns/complaints). After having experience this ordering disaster first hand, it is apparent that the seller and their vendors do not talk to each other.

In my case, I was never given an order/confirmation number for my purchase on May 19 (a bad sign). When I emailed the contact person (Sid M from Lexardistribution.com) on my PayPal receipt, I was told that the order/confirmation number was emailed and to check my spam folder. Well, it wasn't and I continued to asked for a confirmation number for several weeks. And instead of receiving an order/confirmation number like I asked, I got a bogus tracking number (787583911275) on May 30, indicating that a shipping label was created. I don't know about how they handle their inventory processes, but I find it strange that a tracking label can be created without an attached order/confirmation number.

On June 6, I Facebook messaged Almazan Knives directly explaining the problem. Their only reply was the same - an order/confirmation number was sent, check your spam folder. At the time of this review (June 8), I still have not received an order/confirmation number despite multiple contacts with Lexar Distribution and Almazan Knives and I doubt that I ever will.

Nevertheless, if you decide to give this company a chance, I recommend that you use PayPal. I do not know why Almazan Knives cannot get their act together with their vendors, but I will not be doing business with them as long as they are using those vendors. Oh, by the way, PayPal also issued me a full refund when they experienced the same lack of communication from Lexar Distribution. So spread the word and tell all of your friends. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ALMAZAN KNIVES OR MEATHEAD KNIVES UNTIL THEY CHANGE THEIR VENDORS.

Dont not buy

Dont not buy,
They are not quality as advertised.
Customer service does not support you.
I bought one and its warped, twisted, the edge is not finished, the edged geometry is horrific and uneven.
I asked for a replacement and got a runaround for over a month, and now they are not replying back.
This is as bad as a scam.
If not for their lack of help in fixing or replacing this knife it wouldn't have been so bad.
I gave them a chance to fix it, and got no support.

**WARNING - SCAM - FRAUD**

****WARNING****

If I could give this company minus stars I would. I DO NOT recommend any dealings with this company. ALMAZAN is a FRAUD.

I ordered the chefs knife on, February 17, 2019, and have yet to receive my purchase. I even paid the extra $20 for expedited shipping. There is no contact number for customer service or corporate information available on their website or facebook page, only an email link to which you’ll get nowhere. However, February 20, 2019, I did get an email advising the package was delivered. It never was. Since then I have been emailing them continuously asking for the product to either be delivered or be reimbursement, to no avail. The only replies from them are “we’re checking into your case” and “a senior officer is aware and will contact you in a couple days”. At one point, I was asked for my contact information, which was always provided on each email with my signature, and still yet I’ve heard nothing. I have asked for management to call/contact me, as well as, their corporate information and to no surprise nothing, not even the slightest acknowledgment of my request. It has been 3 months now and I’ve gotten nowhere.
