I love these shoes

I love these shoes, especially the ones with the soft footbed. However the laces are appalling. They don't stay done up at all. Recommend you replace before wearing

Extremely disappointed – Allbirds quality control and support need serious improvement

was genuinely excited to try Allbirds for the first time and ordered a pair of the Men's Tree Runners. Unfortunately, the experience has been nothing but frustrating. The first pair I received had a large, very noticeable mark—visible even before fully opening the box. I contacted Allbirds customer service, and while they were polite, I was asked to send them back for a replacement.

Over a week later, my replacement pair arrived… with the exact same mark in the exact same spot. It was so identical that I honestly believe Allbirds just tried to clean up the original pair and sent them back. If not, then this points to a serious failure in Allbirds’ quality control process—because this flaw was extremely obvious.

I’m now waiting on a third pair and debating whether I should just ask for a refund instead. Throughout this, Allbirds customer service has been slow to respond and has only offered standard scripted apologies. When I returned the first pair, I even had to chase them up to get a status update—only to be asked which replacement I wanted. It should’ve been obvious: the same shoes I ordered in the first place.

For a brand like Allbirds, which positions itself as premium and operates almost entirely online, this level of quality assurance and customer service is disappointing. These shoes aren't cheap, and honestly, this experience doesn't reflect the values Allbirds claims to stand for. I hope someone at Allbirds sees this and takes the feedback seriously—because right now, I can’t recommend them.

I have given a score of 2, not 1 as the have provided customer service. Even if it has been basic and not really willing to take accountability.

Items never received

Parcel was stolen. Reported to Evri and Met police. The seller is in breach of contract if items never received and have the contract with Evri who delivered to an insecure location not listed as a safe space. Customer services just suggested trying my credit card company and police again. No help, no times, no refund. Breach of contract and terrible service with no empathy or care . Representive was called Takoda from the customer experience team

A disgraceful customer service experience and dangerously poor product quality

I used to be a fan of Allbirds - until their shoes literally caused me to bleed. After minimal use and careful storage, one short walk in their product left me with blisters so severe they stained the shoes with blood. When I reached out to report this, I was met not with concern or accountability, but with a boilerplate dismissal that tried to handwave the issue away as “natural wear and tear.”

Apparently, Allbirds believes it’s acceptable for their shoes to fall apart after limited use and cause injury, as long as it's been two years since purchase. Never mind that the fault only became apparent recently - which is exactly what the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is designed to address. Their stance was not only legally questionable, it was patronising and borderline insulting.

To add insult to actual injury, their “gesture of goodwill” was a £20 credit - presumably so I could buy another pair and roll the dice on whether I’ll walk away unscathed next time. And yes, they also suggested I donate the bloodstained shoes. Classy.

Allbirds markets itself as ethical and sustainable, but when it comes to actual responsibility for product failures? It’s all smoke and mirrors. If you’re looking for quality, accountability, or even basic decency, look elsewhere.

I’ve given them every opportunity to resolve this appropriately. Since they’ve refused, I’ll be escalating through consumer protection channels - and sharing this story so others can avoid the same experience.

Avoid Allbirds unless you’re prepared to be ignored, injured, and insulted.

No trainers, no refund, no service

Four Saturdays ago, I ordered some new trainers online from Allbirds and paid for express delivery. The next day I was asked to travel urgently and at short notice. I immediately contacted Allbirds customer experience and explained the situation and asked for the order to be cancelled as no one would be available to receive the delivery. I received a response in a few hours saying they would sort it. So far so good. I did not receive the trainers, which I do not believe were dispatched nor have I received a refund. In the intervening time I have contacted Allbirds 5 times asking for updates and a refund but have received no response to my enquiries.
I did get an email from Allbirds asking me to rate their customer experience team (naming the individuals in their customer team) which I did (not favourably) and explained why . This week I received an email asking me to rate my experience of the trainers they sent me ( which they did not send) . I did rate them (not favourable and explaining why.) Nothing will elicit a response from this company no matter how many times you contact them even when they ask for your comments. By far the worst online experience I have ever had. I have no idea how to get my money back. Do not buy from them. (UK6609717)

Returns are not accepted

They don't accept returns based on their own arbitrary reasons. I think they have a limit of 2 returns lifetime but they don't disclose this upfront.

The shoes are comfortable initially but fall apart very quickly (bottom sole wears out leaving no traction and upper wool body will look worn out).

Edit: AllBirds responded below this review asking me to email them. I sent them an email as requested but they just sent me back a canned response saying that they don't accept returns.

Done with Allbirds

They have some archaic terms of service that they throw in your face to excuse rejecting a return. Awful customer service! I will never order shoes from them again.

They didn't last that long...

I do like the idea of having shoes made of wool. Yes they actually keep your feet warm in a cold climate, and a bit too warm during summer of course.
Look nice, feel nice.
The sole didn't last 6 months, which is a bit of a bummer considering the price. With "didn't last" I mean that it got completely worn out I had be careful when walking...
Better option out there for durability.

+100 to stability

Sneakers are very comfortable and sensations, as if I had + 100 to stability. They are very comfortable for jumping and I feel myself much higher in them, although the platform is not so high.

Three returns is considered a high return rate...

Ordered two pairs of sneakers - same style, different colors - however they don't fit. I attempted to return them and my return request was denied with no explanation. These were not final sale items and well within the 30-day return policy. I reached out to customer service and was told my return would be approved this time however any future orders from my account would be subject to review and/or cancellation. I've been a customer for years now (both in the US and the UK) and this is only the third return I've made in over five years so I guess three returns is considered a high return rate.

Nice shoes that fall apart.

Shoes are comfy and nice but durability is poor. I have brought 3 pairs and 2 have had the sole delaminate after roughly 1 year and the others look tatty as hell as the midsole has decomposed. I contacted allbirds about the most recent sole delamination just over a year after purchase. They've confirmed there's no warranty and after a year that's not their problem. My shoes may contain 40% less carbon but if I go through a new pair every year, I'm better off buying carbon intensive trainers that last me 3 years. Disappointed by the quality and the response.
