Disastrous delivery experience

I am based in the UK and ordered a product from Al Duca D’Aosta in Italy, where it was clearly stated that all import duties and taxes were included in the price. Despite this, once the order was passed to DHL, I was unexpectedly asked to pay a £72 import fee before my package could be delivered.

This triggered a very poor delivery experience with DHL, who missed seven deliveries. The package was only released after multiple calls, a formal complaint, and DHL finally clarifying with Al Duca D’Aosta that they would cover the import fee as originally promised.

Al Duca D’Aosta’s customer service was also disappointing. After initially responding quickly, they stopped replying to emails and offered no apology, resolution, or compensation for the issue their misleading information created. I would expect at least a partial refund or some form of goodwill gesture for the stress and wasted time.

I would not use them again and would strongly advise anyone ordering from outside the EU to be cautious about their “duties and taxes included” claims. Two stars because the product price was competitive, but saving around £20 was absolutely not worth the hassle.

We would like to state that duties and taxes are in fact included, according to our policy. What you unfortunately experienced was a technical problem due to a server-to-server miscommunication between our portal and DHL’s: basically, the software we use for the automatic generation of labels mistakenly (and automatically) switched the Incoterm of your shipment from DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to DAP (Delivered At Place). This is an issue that our team made sure to solve as soon as possible, but you have to keep in mind that this operation requires a timeframe that does not depend on us, but on the customer service of our software provider and on DHL.

As for the missed deliveries, we do not have control over this, as it is a matter independent from us and unrelated to the payment of duties, which was finalized on November 27th, before several attempted deliveries between November 27th and December 3rd. Therefore, the delivery was missed due to other circumstances, independent from Al Duca d’Aosta. From what we can see on DHL’s tracking, all the missed deliveries were due to (quoting DHL’s tracking) “Delivery attempted but no response at consignee address.”

Whether DHL did or did not in fact attempt to deliver to you is something we cannot know and goes beyond our jurisdiction.

Finally, I want to assure you that our team took the matter very seriously and acted promptly, as we understood the seriousness of the issue.

An honest review of the store.

I ordered the belt from farfetch, the belt came from this store. The belt arrived but they had sent the wrong belt, I returned the product and got the money back. I sent them an email but no one responded. The next day, I ordered the belt directly from the store's website (the product was not found elsewhere) and called them to make double sure that they send the right belt this time. They did answer the call and the customer service representative was really friendly, after the call they also answered the email and apologized for the situation. They sent the product and it came in a day from Italy to Finland and this time it was the right one. When I read the reviews here, I was worried, but in the end everything went really well and I am really satisfied with the product.

Send WRONG items, have NO customer service and DON’T refund the return of the wrong items received ⚠️

Ordered from their boutique on Farfetch a bikini bottom and received the wrong color, contacted them right away by email and they NEVER responded. I returned the bottom since I had no answer and now that they have received my return nearly a week ago, they can’t even confirm to Farfetch so that I am refunded. I have NO REFUND as a consequence whereas I wasted my time and money ordering for nothing and moreover they can’t even confirm my return ?!

I took pictures of the wrong item and return package label so I will open a dispute on PayPal if I don’t receive my refund soon.

Roach-Infested Nightmare: A Cautionary Tale of Al Duca d'Aosta

Our recent stay at Al Duca d'Aosta in Venice was nothing short of a disaster. From roach-infested rooms to dirty bathrooms and incompetent staff, this hotel failed on every level. What was meant to be a relaxing family vacation turned into a stressful ordeal that we wouldn't wish on anyone.

Upon arrival at 10:30 PM, we were given a room in a secondary building. Within minutes of settling in, we spotted six roaches scurrying around. When we reported this, we were moved to the main building, only to find the new room had just two single beds - hardly suitable for our family of four. The third room, back in the secondary building, was promised to be roach-free but greeted us with a filthy bathroom complete with hair and cobwebs. The staff's assurance about the absence of roaches in this room only highlighted their awareness of the infestation problem.

The next morning brought no relief. Despite promises to move our belongings to a new room, we returned after two hours to find nothing had been done. We were left waiting in the lobby with our children for over 40 minutes before finally receiving keys to our new room. Throughout our ordeal, the staff showed a remarkable lack of concern or efficiency. To add insult to injury, when we requested a refund, the hotel refused, even denying our claim when we went through our booking provider. This experience was a stark reminder that sometimes, even well-known hotels can fall drastically short of basic standards of cleanliness and customer service.

Will give them a extra star because the…

Will give them a extra star because the item was delivered promptly to my UK address but as a fellow customer has already pointed out below, they had wrongly advertised the wrong size and I was sent a shoe that was too small. Mistakes happen but my main gripe is the Customer Service. Basically non-existent. I sent them screenshots of the error (intended or not), it took them so long to respond and only acknowledged that it had to be returned and nothing about a full refund. Not to be trusted and will have to attempt to get my money back via my bank.

Unacceptable. Please close your business if you don't know how to deal with customers.

Please please get away from this page

Please please get away from this page. I’ve ordered a boot size UK7 but been delivered 7US. I’ve send duzen of emailes until they have send me a return label and at the end I’ve been charged £60 for returning my order. Please be aware of ordering from them. They will send you a wrong item on purpose and charge you hundreds of pounds. Their customer service is terrible. They never try to solve your problem, only thing they are interested in is taking your money.

Fantastic transaction- quick and great price

I was a bit apprehensive ordering from this site with the medium quality reviews, I did some research though and proceeded. From my research, the company is long established, sells high end goods and is legit. I would only buy things I intend not to return however as I’m in a different country and realise duties/taxes would not be refunded which is clear in the t&c’s. I have to say, the goods I received are perfect, price was great and no additional import fees were needed to be paid for my order. The goods were packed beautifully and transit was extremely quick, especially over the holiday period. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase and would confidently purchase from this site again.

No item received & no help.

I have ordered a gift for my wife for Christmas and I have to admit, they shipped the item as soon as I made the order. The item has since been delivered to an address that does not exist and I have emailed this company roughly 20 times asking for help trying to track the item. It seems it’s now in someone else’s possession and this company are not willing to help me. They are saying it’s been delivered to the non existent address and they’ve shut the case down so I am now left with no gift and have lost a lot of money. You would think they’d do anything to find the order considering the value. Extremely disappointed and upset.

I love shopping at Al Duca

I love shopping at Al Duca. They add new items to their website every day. Their customer service is also very helpful. Probably my favorite shopping site! And it never took more than 2 days for delivery. I would highly reccomend.

Ordered a 2 items from their website…

Ordered a 2 items from their website and 1 of the items was incorrect. Not even close to the item I ordered other than it was the same brand. Trying to get the item sent back was absolutely ridiculous. Added to the pain was that they would not refund me until they received the incorrect item back.

So finally after over a month they have refunded me but they have deducted the IVA and duty and have told me that it’s in their terms and conditions for returns! So not only have I missed out on the item I wanted, taken a month of speaking to DHL and emailing this lot, they have now short changed me over £100 through no fault of my own. It was their mistake not mine. I have contacted my credit card for a chargeback as this cannot be allowed

Excellent experience ordering from the Al Duca DAosta website

Excellent experience ordering from the Al Duca D'Aosta website for delivery to the UK. I would buy from them again.
I ordered a blue and white striped summer jacket by Isabel Marant Etoile on 28 July 2020 and it arrived today, 30 July, in London UK. It was well wrapped and the quality was exactly as I expected. I have other items by Isabel Marant Etoile and therefore I was confident that the size would be correct. The jacket fits just as I hoped and it looks great on. I had to pay in Euro, despite the website price showing £ sterling prices for UK customers but I knew what the approximate £ sterling equivalent would be so I had no surprises with the £ amount that has appeared on my credit card account. I am very happy with my purchase and the very prompt delivery by DHL.

Great With a Catch

Item came as expected. Fast Service. I received the Alexander Mcqueen Garnet Necklace. Was nervous after reading the comments. I would say shipping items is always a risk. One thing I did not appreciate Al Duca D'Aosta doing before I purchased was not mentioning that duties and shipping cost would not be returned. The duties I know is calculated by the receiving government. A duty refund would be possible with the US government, but it would be super complicated for that as it is currently not set up to be easy. I treat everything I buy from Al Duca D' Aosta as final sale. Also, Al Duca D' Aosta does not have a way to do transaction processing in the home country that you are shopping in and processes all charges from Italy so my credit card was charged extra due to the foreign transaction fees set aside by non Euro countries. I would genuinely spend more if both issues were addressed as I see it mentioned by other reviewers.

Stay away!!

We truly want to believe that the Internet is a safe place where you can’t fall for all types of online scams, but it’s always a good reminder to do a “reality check” especially do your homework before you order from this company!

Actually the time and energy invested in this negative review is not even worth it. They will try to scram you whenever they can. Italian backyard business style.
First they have to give you allowance to send items back, after I did so they said I sent the wrong item back, giving them a bad review they accepted my return giving me a partial refund.
I lost 90.-$ as they keep the shipping cost and taxes.
There is no logic and fairness in this.
You can’t reply to customer service by it’s name because all the burning issue will be handled with no name emails and not professional language.

Dear Al Duca D’aosta:
A bad review isn't the problem. A bad review is the result of a problem. The real problem is whatever happened between your customer and your businesses that created that result. For real customer service wins, don't focus on the result; focus on the problem!!

They will scam you given the chance. Stay Away!

I bought a velvet waistcoat from Al Duca D' Aosta via Farfetch. I received a non velvet waistcoat so returned it. Now this dishonest boutique have claimed what I returned was something they don't even sell. I have photos of the item with their store tag hanging from the garment! I've lost £140 on this debacle. Mistakes are one thing but dishonesty is unforgivable. This is an obvious case of fraud, which I will pursue with pleasure.
