AirTransat Incompetence

Had a ticket to fly with AirTransat from ATH to YYZ, ended up delayed in our seats on the plane for over six hours on the tarmac, due to an original issue totally under the control of the airline. Initially they told us that the flight was delayed due to toilet malfunction, then the delay was extended due to a medical emergency, then after that was resolved it was another two hours due to an electrical issue. At least two of these issues, and likely four of the six-plus hour delay, was due to issues within the responsibility of the carrier. At hour two, passengers were finally given a miniature water bottle, at hour four we were provided the smallest cereal bar one could imagine. No compensation provided. Where's the adherence to Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament for Common Rules for Compensation and Assistance to Passengers?

Ok people spread this far and wide to…

Ok people spread this far and wide to warn people not to book with Transat. This vacation has been a nightmare!
The top level resort we booked, Majestic Mirage is closed for renos. Nobody told us. We got dropped off at their mid level resort with no explanation. We were shocked and confused.
I spent the next 3 days trying to get answers on hold etc.
met with Transat agent today to be told they will do nothing. Their feeling is that their top level room at their mid level resort is the same as the top level room at their top level resort.
It is not!!! For starts the room we booked does not exist at the mid level resort, Majestic Elegence.
The Transat rep is filing a complaint on our behalf to be forwarded to Canada.
Our travel agency says not their problem, once we are on resort it is Transat problem. Guess what Transat said?? Yep, it is our travel agencies problem.
Looks like I will have to go full beast mode when I get home.

My husband and I arrived at the MIA…

My husband and I arrived at the MIA airport 2h10min before our flight departure, which was at 18h10 (boarding would start at 17h10); we had already completed all requested steps for the check in prior to our arrival at the airport, including the selection of seats, to avoid any delays at the airport. We had no items to drop-off, only carry on items. When we were about to pass the TSA checkpoint, the officer informed there was a mistake in the system, which was inputted incorrectly by AirTransat that was showing that my date of birth was wrong. For that, the officer gave us a note to hand out to the AirTransat's counter and solve this issue. Once this minor change would be completed, we could go straight back to agent (skipping the line) and proceed with the final step before getting to the gate for departure. However, there was absolutely no one in the counter to solve this. We didn't need to complete a check-in, just an urgent change in their system be able to arrive still in time. So we called the customer support. At first, the CS agent said there was no reservation under our names with the number we were provided from air transat, then, after some time, the agent managed to locate it. She then informed she did the change on her side in the system and that she had informed the airport about this, however, when we went back to the TSA officer, they informed no change was showing and they stopped us again to go through. The officer said we needed a printed OR virtual boarding pass with the change, but the CS agent from AirTransat said she couldn't provide that (even the virtual one). Thus, we were denied to go through and we both missed our flights. We requested the air transat agent for support to get us a resolution, and she said we would need to fully pay for a flight that would only leave the next day and said this was our fault. We completely disagree and, now, after over a month, we still haven't heard back from AirTransat to get a reimbursement. This was a really unpleasant surprise in our budget and we are still suffering these consequences until now due to their lack of support and care with their customers.

Flight Montreal to Malaga July 8

Flight Montreal to Malaga July 8, 2024
3(three) toilets closed,as out of order, they had the time to print red labels on the doors. Dirty plane , dirty seats, terrible food, no ice, no entertainment, screens locked, the labels also printed screens disconnected, use your own device and download their app, but hey no charging power, I did not have my nuclear powered iPad for 8
hours. But wait there is more. For the return flight August 8, an emergency for us, requiring an earlier flight return, a week before. Very long time to get them on the phone as website did not function that day. We’re told we are in luck , last two seats available, but….. $1,200 extra, I said NO , they preferred to fly two empty last seats, dirty seats, and save a delicious “meal” for themselves
Question to TransAct (suggested new name) is anyone there reading all these and trying to take some repairs? , a toilet maybe or so.

Incompetent Substandard Rude Service

The original and connecting flights were both delayed, and the baggage was delayed. The claim process involved some of the most unprofessional service I have ever encountered. Five times the staff member interrupted assisting me to help people behind me in line. He typed with one finger and barely spoke English. He made mistakes I had to correct him on. Luggage not delivered the next day, as it should be since it had been located. I enquired at three phone numbers including their 24/7 helpline, and no one answered.

Utterly disappointing experience

I went to AirTransat website to book a flight from Orlando to Toronto and after entering all the necessary information they could not process the CC payment but they message did not give a reason, so I called the CC company and they told me there were no issues at their end, then I call AirTransat and when I explained to the rep the situation he immediately said he knew what was going on and that this flight was managed by Porter airlines due to their join venture and Porter were not offering the posted ticket price anymore, I hang up and went back to AirTransat website and continued to see the same advertise price as before, another bait and switch schema. These kind of experiences leave a very bad taste on the consumers and I am sure to avoid them in the future although I am running out of options because it seems most airlines are doing similar things, I wish I can find a trustworthy airline that offers a pleasant experience not the current mess travellers like me are experiencing.

Air Transat advertises as non stop…

Air Transat advertises as non stop flights from Toronto to Lima. That is untrue. I bought a return flight and on both flights an 8 hr flight turned into an 10 hour flight because it had to stop in Jamaica - NOT for technical issues but to refuel. They gladly charge you for a non stop flight and take no responsibility for it.

Air Transat makes me want to recreate the French revolution.

If I could give it zero stars I would! They are a souless, money grubbing, garbage company! The tickets are so overpriced, they cut costs on seats, space, and service, but STILL cannot manage to afford a working website. The customer support will insist that the price you are looking at on their website is wrong and have to pay more. What do you mean it's wrong, I'm on YOUR website. After much back and forth, you're put on hold while they look up their own prices, then finally agree. This is not a budget airline, this is just corporate greed. I hope all of your planes are grounded forever.

Booked a travel package with Air…

Booked a travel package with Air Transat in May for travel in November. First we got an email saying they went ahead and changed our travel dates without our permission or input, then a week later we got an email saying they had oversold the rooms and had cancelled our trip all together. The hotel and flight are still available but now at an extremely higher price. I won’t make the mistake of booking with Air Transat again.

They're false advertising a resort as…

They're false advertising a resort as new, the resort is being renovated and it's been stopped to a leak in the pools?

And everyone is getting sick from food.

And employees breaking into rooms in the middle of the night and 3 employees on multiple occasions following women to there rooms and even chased after a family friend.

The air transat rep even warned everyone and it's on video and yet they won't allow anyone to change resorts without making them pay more then the difference on the trip.

Those families that encountered this have went for legal representation and air transat is still denying any of these issues and said it's a safe resort...... just avoid this company they're scam artists and don't care about your well-being at all.

My wife and I traveled from Vancouver…

My wife and I traveled from Vancouver to Lisbon with a stop over in Montreal. We had prebooked and prepaid for seats so we could travel with the rest of our party. When we landed in Montreal and were advised by the gate agent that the airline had changed planes and our prebooked seats were no longer available. He also advised that we were eligible for a refund. When we retuned from our trip I contacted Air Transat customer service and was advised that although we didn't get the seats we had prepaid and prebooked we did get seats so therefore we weren't eligible for refund. Figure that out? Aren't random seats just part of the fare? If you pay for a service and don't receive it you should get refunded right?

I've been flying with Air Transat for…

I've been flying with Air Transat for over 10 years and always rated them highly, until now. My recent experience was beyond frustrating. My dual citizen children weren't allowed to check in with their British passports. Despite getting the required documents in time, we were still refused check-in and had to pay for the next flight.

The staff were unhelpful and rude, despite my kindness. One staff member even mentioned it was a joke we couldn't board as we had enough time, blaming it on the supervisor having a bad day. It wasn't clear on Air Transat's rules that dual citizens need to fly on their Canadian passports – something most people wouldn't know.

This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially for loyal customers. I hope Air Transat addresses this issue.

Terrible Customer Service

I was attempting to book an all inclusive package for my family online. The price showing online was significantly lower than the price that appeared when I would click the book now button, by almost $600 a person. I called and spoke with a customer service agent who told me that although it was higher in her system she would honour the original online price as that was also showing up for her online when she double checked. She initiated the booking, took the personal information and details of myself and family members and put me on hold to do the price adjustment. After a few minutes the call was disconnected,on her end as I did not touch my phone. No big deal I thought, as she had my phone number and email, as a customer service representative of Air Transat she will obviously call me back. When I heard nothing from her after 5 minutes I called and was transferred to a new customer service representative. I explained the situation and she asked me to answer several identifying questions and then stated that my booking had been cancelled. She stated that they were unable to honour the price ( that was still currently showing online at this time) and if I wanted to book the vacation it would now be almost $2000 more to book. She insisted that no one would have said they could honour a price. I suggested that she check the recordings of the call as Air Transat clearly states in a recording prior to speaking to anyone that all calls are recorded. I asked to be transferred back to the original agent I was dealing with and she refused. She then began insisting that she could not see any of my previous information or my booking despite her already asking me to confirm all the identifying information and stating that the booking had been cancelled. I asked to be transferred to a manager or supervisor and she stated that there was no one working in that capacity at the time, it was late afternoon.

I got off the phone and I was able to easily book the same trip, same destinations, the same dates and even better flight times through Sunwing at a much lower cost. This was not my first trip or experience with Air Transat, I have used them several times over the years but it will now definitely be my last.

They make people check carry-on for nothing

They made me check-in my small backpack saying there were too many people on the flight so I had to. The flight wasn't full and most of the overhead space around me was still empty after boarding. I made sure my bag fit all the requirements and sacrificed in my packing to make it as small and light as possible. People with much bigger suitcases who got a different staff member had no issue bringing it in. I boarded near the beginning too. I don't think this cheap airline is worth the slightly lower cost, I'll probably avoid in the future for traveling carry-on only.

Diversity training still needed

Diversity training still needed. The staff looked at my name on passport and said, "wow that's a lot, not trying that, I'll just call you...". The name she choose to call me wasn't even a name on my passport. These microagressions are painful especially in today's current climate.

My first choice

Over the last 10 years I have travelled numerous times with Air Transat (out of Montreal) to many different destinations in Europe - this year, so far, 2 trips to France. Considering general comfort and service I find that they deliver a good experience. Staff are usually very friendly and it is so nice to have lots of direct routes!! I find that although dates for flights are sometimes a bit limited, they are for me a much better carrier than Air Canada.

Worst experience ever, rudest woman with no empathy at all.

Worst customer service, rude and actually unhelpful, did nothing but to delay me at check in and made it so late I could not get my boarding passes even though my bags were checked in via the first flight and this flight was delayed . Had a 4 year old with me and they didn’t return my bags at all , had to get porter airlines to help me from the first flight. Finally at 1:30 am they showed up thanks to porter . The rude useless employees at the check in especially the the senior advisor manager did all she could to not help myself and my kids whom I was traveling alone with. Can’t advise anyone enough to stay away from people like this. Life is too short.
