In love with my Ahogga e-Max
After searching for months to find a solution how to combine a folding bike, an e-bike and a bike for transporting my dog with his trailer, I'm more than happy call an Ahooga e-max my own now.
It's the perfect combination for me, it's easily foldable, the Ahooga Teams' support is great and if I hadn't bought it already, I would buy it now.
It accompanied me also to several business trips. I can transport my suitcase on the luggage rack and transport it without any cost in the train.
Thank you, Ahooga for bringing such a smart addition to my mobility routine! :)

Brilliant addition to Ahooga folding analog
It‘s a brilliant add-on to the classical Ahooga analoge folding bike, the locking mechanism for the real triangle!
Now whenever I happen to unfold the bike, I just twist the silver knob a little and it’s fixed and ready to go. And unlocking is just as easy…
The team at Ahooga was great, as they informed me in time that the delivery was to be delayed because of issues with their supply.

Great customer service Ahooga
My Ahooga Urban was broken and im from NL. After waiting for 3 months on NL shop to repair the bike, i have contacted Ahooga directly and in less than 2 weeks my bike was repaired as new. Ahoog customer service is great, understood the situation and proposed solutions. One of them bringing the bike to BE which i did and in 1 day was repaired. Only thanks i have for them. Top!

Rubber pieces wear out with little use
Have used it one month a year for past 4 years in a holiday home and the rubber pieces have worn out or fallen off. Don’t know how to replace them.

Excellent service from Arthur
The bicycle was delivered as promised…
The bicycle was delivered as promised within the 1 week delay.
After severe issues with the bike during the first few days, the after sales services were very good and replaced the broken bike within days.
I have had zero issues since and the bike works as expected. The gear-changes are smooth, the brakes are powerful and the electric motor allows handling reasonable hills without loosing speed.

Good bike, needs better design and parts
The bike is fine to drive. I use it to go to work and I have to go over a hill, something it doesn't seem designed to do but it does the job. My current main issue is (in my opinion) poor designing when it comes to the metal tube holding the seat, and the screw that keeps the seat attached.
The latter broke and it was a pain to repair, it's a 1/4" and it doesn't seem to be common here in Italy, which makes the repair for such a silly object way harder than it should be.
Meanwhile my main complaint about the former part (the tube) is that despite being not a heavy guy (I'm 68kg) I often struggle to correctly tighten the locking mechanism of the tube enough to hold my weight. I think that there could be better ways to design it

I bought some items for my Ahooga cargo from Italy, and the price, shipment and delivery time were great! ... just an improvement point: payment by Paypal would be a plus.
Thank ... I’ll back to shop again on your site!

Really not great
The following feedback is from the purchaser as well as friends & family who have all tried it and come with their verdict...
Here are a few great things about the Ahooga Folding 36V bike:
- Foldable pedals
- Balance of bike, with rear motor and centrally located battery
- 20'' wheels (e.g. vs. 16'' for Brompton)
- Overall design "looks good"
From there, the whole experience goes downhill and turns into a wreck.
- If you look again at the (total) weight capacity assumption and distance possible on one charge, you will understand why several users complain about battery capacity...
- The balance of the bike is great when cycling, but makes it really uncomfortable to lift and carry up stairs, as the balance is then much towards the back of the (folded) bike whereas you can only hold it on the front part of the frame...
- Front wheel fitting often makes it rub against disk breaks. Quick release has problems.
- Front wheel folding hook incredibly difficult to use, incl. the infamous syringe move
- Users have reported that their shoes can hit fold rolling wheels
- If using the (expensive) rear bamboo rack, it will likely be scratched if the bike is pushed on wheels
- Fold and unfold instructions in the package did not match bike model, neither did those for charging the battery that needs to be removed to be charged
- Poor equipment quality overall, e.g. rear derailleur not working to gear 1 and rattling in gear 2
- Design wise, the Knog lights require either a two way USB 2 cable or a laptop with ... a USB 2 port. And the bike computer buttons are blocked by the bell in the way, requiring to lift your hand from the handle bar to use it, both inconvenient and unsafe.
- Was advertised as suitable for UK market, but no UK plug was provided, not even upon request.
- Their shipping to the UK is a complete joke logistically speaking, cost wise, but also, please note that they will not remove the Belgian VAT (even if not applicable)...
In conclusion: Avoid.

Very good bike, better support
I bought my Modular 3 weeks ago. I boughjt it via upway (2023 model / 4 km / 35% less). I had some questions about the electric system and transport pockets and contacted Ahooga, they answered me fast and competend, sent me a manual in PDF and even they don't earned money the support was very friendly and good. The bike itself is a 9 out of 10. only the front and real lamps are not as light as they could be and the sadle should have a quick-fix to adjust the hight for different riders. The motor is strong, the batery last 40-50 km on level 3 -5 with me (100kg) an charge 20-30 kg. The Modular is not a Tourer, I use it to transport my purchases and city movement, therefor it is ideal. Up to now (about 100 km) everything is strong and works perfect. Calculating with 500 full charges and a battery lifecycle of 6-8 years, that gives me about 3500 km / year. This is much more than I need. I'm really happy with "my" Modular.
Cheers and Thank you Ahooga
Stefan

Worst bike you'll ever buy
Worst bike you'll ever buy, so don't.
Horrible service and poor solutions for issues.
My battery is dead after 20 km usage, which is a joke for a bike of this 'caliber' and price (they told us the reach was 70 km...).
My friends saddle even broke off mid cycle, out of nowhere. She's lucky to be alive.
Ahooga 36V foldable e-bike
Very stable and rigid foldable mini e-bike. Low gravity point en very light.

Problems with Modular
I am riding now almost 3 years with the Ahooga Modular.
How lovely to ride with the bike, but the quality is terrible.
The engine broke down two times. I had chosen the 3 speed belt , most expensive and advanced model, but the system was not able to deal with the forces it had to undergo.
After fixing it the first time, it was broken again a few months later. Then Ahoogo offered to replace the 3 speed belt system with the traditional 8 speed gear and chain, wich works much better.
The 3 speed system was not mature enough, and is not offered anymore, that says enough. However I paid a few 100 euros more to have a 3 speed belt , and end up with a 8 speed chain system.
Feels like lost of money.
Problems are not over yet. The bike ( who is in leasing) turns 3 year next month, and now the battery is broken.
Trough the bike dealer Ahoogo offered a new battery for 200 euro instead of 300, sold as a exclusive offer for me, but in fact it's just the promo offer on the website. So no extra ffort for their first clients. Less then 3 years for a battery is not what I would expect.
So a extra cost, with the end of the leasing soon and a decision to keep the bike or return it to the leasing.
As great as the bike and the concept is, the poor the quality is. This bike and its parts are not mature enough and break down to easy, making this bike not to trust.
Service is also minimum effort it seems.
Update 03/07/2023
After this review, ahooga contacted me, to see how we could solve this. A nice offer was done regarding the battery. Thanks for that nice service.
So I'm on the road again, hoping for many km's and years of pleasure with the bike.
As said before, it is a nice bike to ride, and really multifunctional.
My bike was bought 3 years ago, when they were just launched. I hope the bikes sold today are improved , child deseases are gone, and that makes it a very nice bike to have!
+2 stars

Ahooga fan since 2 years!
I am a real ahooga-fan. I bought a regular one when buying my house out of the city center. I needed an easy way to go to work that would allow me to go fast and not be bothered by the traffic jam. The design, the culture and the amazing people that welcomed me at the ahooga shop (Nicolas) convinced me it was their bike I had to buy. We are two years later now and I'm still a really happy customer. I recommand this brand and their bikes.
