Very deceptive billing.

Very deceptive billing.
I signed up for 7 day free trial.
Decided to cancel before the end of the trial.
They still billed my Capitol 1 card.
When I called the help number listed on their website the representative proceeded to attempt to scam me out of more money by telling me I had won a free $100 gift card. but guess what? they needed my credit card information...
I'm disputing the $89.99 charge which I'm certain will be successful. but still it's just wrong.

Wish we were you …

The British Acorn is so much better than the NZ version. We have these shows replaying on Sky TV so it’s disappointing to see the adverts for new shows on Facebook for the British Acorn and for us …nothing. The last decent addition was Vera’s penultimate series. I’ll come back in a few months. That may help. Once every few months.

Not worth the money!

No issues with Acorn usage as watching through Prime video app so no issues there. My reason for 1 star is that I cancelled my free trial less than 3 days into the 14 days as I had watched the 2 programmes I wanted to. Went looking for other programmes to watch, found a few that might interest me but when I went to actually watch them they weren't there as the rights had expired!! So don't advertise them if you can't show them surely? What's the point in that?! Don't actually think there's a huge amount of shows on this service, definitely not enough to justify paying £4.99 a month for that's for sure.

DO NOT SIGN FOR A FREE TRIAL

OMG - warning, it is easier to access the vaults in Fort Knox, than access the "cancel subscription".
I have been trying for 2 hours to unsubscibe from my free trial. Which I only signed up for because it claimed to have Midsomer Murders Series 24. On loading Acorn TV, a big graphic came up of Inspector Barnaby(Neil Dudgeon) and sidekick Jamie(Nick Hendrix). Aha, I thought, excellent! Well not only did they NOT have Series 24, they had no episodes at all! So graphic was totally misleading!

Acorn TV customer service is horrible

Acorn TV customer service is horrible. While watching Acorn via my Amazon subscription, a notification came up that I could subscribe for $89.99 a year instead of the $8.99 I was paying thru Amazon. So I opted in and signed up. However, there was no notification that I wouldn’t be accessing Acorn as usual via Prime Video on Amazon. I found out by contacting Amazon customer service and asking why I was still being charged $8.99 a month. They don’t offer yearly subscription rates, only monthly. When I finally was able to contact acorn customer service and asked for refund because I didn’t want to access their service via my tvs web browser each time to view ( my LG doesn’t have the Acorn app on it) they said I could cancel service but no refund. So I disputed the charge thru my Citibank Visa card. After two months , Acorn refused the refund and said their terms were very clear. I made the mistake and there was nothing they would do.
So now I will be cancelling my Anazon subscription to Acorn and subscribing to Britt Box and Acorn can suck donkey”d…s”.

I love the content on Acorn but the app is so frustrating. The app frequently won't open, episodes don't automatically follow one another. I have to keep leaving the app and start o er to watch sequential episodes. Today it won't stream at all. I can't get any help on the website

Don’t trust ACORN TV

DONT SUBSCRIBE TO ACORN - you’ve been warned.
Worked for a while when we first downloaded it.
Good programming - hopeless delivery.
Buffers, freezes, loses audio - totally frustrating.
Customer service is non-existent - they just point the finger (auto reply) at anything but themselves and do not respond further.
Tried all the online “fixes” - work for five minutes
Very sad, as we’d love to watch some of the programming….or we’d love our money back.
Acorn TV…are you listening??? Not bloody likely

If I.could give it zero I would

If I.could give it zero I would! I’ve been charged 95.00 for three years and When I try to log in it says I have no account. I called customer service and got the rudest person I’ve ever gotten in my life. He says he has to go into my computer to resolve the issue. I said I’m on an apple phone he yells ( yes yells) “ why the hell I tell you computer three times and you tell me apple phone!” I said, you’re being very rude and I’m done! He says why I being rude! I hang up. He CALLS me back yelling at me. I hang up. He calls again and leaves a message yelling “why you hang up, you call me back or serious consequences.” What the hell is going on??

Was a yearly subscriber

Was a yearly subscriber. Started having difficulties with shows in a series not buffering. Very frustrating I couldn't finish series. Happened more and more. Call in for support. Said they would look into it. No resolution. Called again. Expressed they were sorry and would look into it. Haven't heard a word since. Canceled my subscription. Said sorry to see me go but no refund or compensation offered. I liked their programming but now I feel like I was scammed. I told them I had absolutely no problem with my other streaming channels. Totally on them. If you want to sign up don't do a yearly subscription and waste your money. Try monthly so if you have problems you can put a stop payment to your credit card and be done with it. I figured I wasted half of my yearly subscription dollars on acorn. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED.

One big headache.

I used to love this streaming app, not now. They keep saying season 4 of the madame blanc mysteries is on now in the United States and it's not. Just tell the truth, getting the the point I'm going to cancel my subscription. It makes no sense.

Acorn TV - The Chelsea Detective

I have previously enjoyed the shows on Acorn TV and was looking forward to seeing the latest series of the Chelsea Detective.

However, like a previous reviewer I discovered to see series 3 I would have to pay £8.99 for the series, which in hindsight I stupidly did.

All that has loaded is the Christmas episode which funnily enough I saw at Christmas!

To say I am annoyed is an understatement. I don’t know what Acorn are playing at by:

Not showing the series in the UK at the same time as the rest of the world;

Charging us extra on top of the monthly subscription

And then when we do pay not unlocking the content.

Am going to cancel subscription although by the sound of it that might be impossible

Beware of Acorn TV / RLJ Entertainment Bait-And-Switch

I acquired an Acorn TV subscription through Roku by accepting an offer for $49.99/year. In early March, I checked my Acorn account, and it stated clearly: Your Annual Plan renews on 03/13/2025. ($49.99/yr)"
At that rate, I decided to keep the plan for another year and did not terminate.
On March 13, 2025, I was automatically charged $84.39 on my credit card. I disputed the charge, but the card company stated that I would have to "provide us a copy of the final sales receipt showing you were charged the incorrect amount," which, of course, is impossible under the circumstances.
Life is too short to fight over $35, but I am terminating Acorn TV, and am warning people that Acorn TV / RLJ Entertainment practice bait-and-switch tactics. Be forewarned.

See Update Below……..CUSTOMER HAS TO REQUEST A REFUND ON ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP!

Update: 3/22/2025 @ 7:15pm. I am pleased to report that a refund of $59.99 just appeared on my credit card. Thank you, AcornTV………..If I could not give any stars, I would. I cancelled my annual subscription on the day it was to renew. I received confirmation my subscription was cancelled, which was 1/8/2025. Today is 3/22 and no refund, so I contacted AcornTV through chat. I was informed in order to get a refund, THE CUSTOMER MUST REQUEST A REFUND! Ridiculous! Did Acorn think I was letting them keep the money? I paid $79.99 on January 8, and today I was informed I would receive a partial refund of $59.99, and advised that if I did not see the refund appear in 10 days, to contact them again! What! So they can take another $20 from my ‘partial refund’? Next step, my credit card company. I was a loyal fan and customer for 14 years, and this cancellation was temporary. Not anymore, I’ll never go back. I question their business ethics.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware, no refunds no customer service and very little content. One year gift sub can no longer use on Amazon per previous years so can’t use there and not compatible with LG smart tv, nor my Virgin provider so ridiculous situation as not interested in fiddly work arounds for rubbish content and cannot get daughter’s money back. Completely evil not refunding, smacks of unethical company.
