I recommend wholeheartedly not to sign up. There is no full information on types of memberships, or on what and how much you are paying for, no customer service, no UK phone line, delayed and threatening replies
which appear to be self-generated, forget any refund or decent treatment once your money has been taken from your bank account. Besides, incredibly expensive compared to other dating apps. There are not enough people registered, not to mention that they are not "academic". I wonder how such businesses are not investigated by the competition and market authorities.

This company offers a 6 monthly membership fee of £19.99 then tries to charge over £190.00. Reported to the credit card security.

No response to emails - take the money and run. Hardly anyone registers with them so little to choose from you need to use a different site. Can request a refund as the service is not of sufficient quality or fit for purpose the Consumer Rights Act 2015

Used this site as thought the person would be honest….after 18mths - yes with Covid that was a useful excuse found that when he disappeared I touched on ‘fake’ and it stated ‘already noted’. Pity that there isn’t some way to highlight it. Using somebody else’s photo - again - is horrid. When I say ‘again’ this has happened three times to me on different dating apps….. On academic singles I received 50 responses in a short time.I went through them today and when I clicked on ‘fake’ 50% came up with red flag as already been reported yet still on the system. Decided to call it a day and enjoy my life with my friends, who I can trust 100%.

SCAM !! SCAM !!
This app date is a scam!!!! they charge me for premium member 10€, and after 2 mouth they take me 70€ from my bank account without any notification, no bill, no invoice, nothing! i ask for my money back, i put they answer here:"Please note that there is still an outstanding payment, which will be processed on 16/04/2022", this after i call for cancelling my account and premium membership, btw u can't stop membership or delete account without write a paper and send it to them.
I ask for a invoice, nothing, i ask for refund, nothing, i will go to police and I advise you all to do the same!
Edit after AS reply: That mail address don't work!
This is a SCAM!!!

An absolute scam! After being billed in March, I found it hard to impossible to cancel my premium subscription & cancel my account. Now they sent a notification asking for the payment for March. Even if I sent the wire transfer proof from my bank showing that I paid their last invoice, they ignored me. Absurd threatening emails keep coming asking me to pay the invoice from March.

Avoid avoid avoid. From the descriptor, you would expect profilees to have a certain level of post college qualification. The vast majority did not.
The subscription renews without a reminder, without an invoice and if you have not diarised a cancellation in writing at least 6 weeks before, you ill get hit by a rather threatening demand for payment by the collection service charged at premium rates and with transaction fees added. Your account is also blocked.
Contact with customer services is met by re-direction to another e mail with reference to faqs which have not answered your question in the first place. You have to reply to that e mail to get anywhere.
To a myriad of e mails, you get one reply at 4am.
To further requests for assistance, no answer.
In the end , you delete your profile yourself as your request for them to do it is ignored. For your payment, you get nothing of substantive value.
No real service. Save your money.

A general warning which applies to so many of these dating sites. You join ( prior to subscription) and don't even download a profile picture nor provide personal details. And yet you shortly receive interest from folk who " loved your profile " or send " a kiss ". You could well be your cat..... So be very wary. It seems that there are very few genuine sites and very little control over the scammers. And the " automatic renewal" clause re subscriptions is a scandal.

Terrible and horrible online thieves! They advertised that 1 month membership is R78, when you select the R78 option it takes you to a payment page where they bill R396. The R396 put me off, I felt deceived so I didn't process the payment, but they processed it automatically. I'm enraged. I want my money back. And then cancel with immediate effect. Their website should be banned and blacklisted
I sent an email and no response

86%of customers rate this company as bad. Those that rate it as good look suspiciously like they are made up.
This company is based in Luxembourg and their business model is in direct contravention of the EU Directive 2019 /2161 on Unfair Comercial Practices - this directive seeks to protect consumers from misleading parleying and selling practices which they continue to operate. It also serves to protect the consumers economic interests - in this case failure to provide refunds for a mis- sold product
Shame on you Academic singles - you continue to rip off customers - I for one will be lodging a formal complaint under the EU directive. I hope you get shut down

I joined yesterday - academic ??? I dont think so. Like other reviewers matched to wrong ages, wrong heights and definately not an intelligence level. Within 2 hours I asked to cx and even asked for money back. Automated message said NOT POSSIBLE and suggested an email address which doesnt exist.
Shameful. DO NOT TOUCH THIS SITE !!

I am sorry that i did not had a look here before using this site. they acctually take money after a while also there site it is not working. I can not even close my account so I closed my card and also report them to the customer protection, ask for chargeback and went to police for fraud. Be carefull

Absolutely not what what it says on the tin. Do not go there! I had the same bad billing experience as described in another review - thought I had signed off, then threatened with the small claims court as I hadn't coughed up for another three months. As for "academic", forget it - even when I entered "doctorates" in my search criteria, I was being matched with forklift truck drivers. I have nothing against forklift truck drivers, but we have nothing in common!

Don't be fooled by this company, the website, facebook account any social media and the APP! "Academic Singles‘ and the sister company is purely fraud!
They don't allow you cancel the membership. And I had to contact the bank to stop them charging me money. Then some debt collector emailed me to ask me to pay thousands of EUROs.
I have brought this matter to NZ district court. I emailed the company for phone number, physical address for the court order to be served.
No contact information from this stealer.
Shame on you!!! Your reply is just a general reply to anybody! Don't be fooled by this company! I just hope less people will become the victims.
Updated: I got my lawyer involved and asked them for a reply of physical address and contact number. No response!

Nothing academic about it.
Many fake profiles.
Want to unsubscribe but they do not respond to my request.
Any ideas on how to terminate this joke?

This company advertises free registration but when I took the offer of Premium membership, which was supposed to be £7/8, I found nearly £200 had been taken from my account. 'Academic Singles' is a lie as the clientele are employed in all trades and positions - which is fine but not what I was led to believe. I am in the process of trying to extricate myself from this mess but there's no phone number nor any sense of when I'll get a response to the email I sent. Avoid this like the plague.

Just awful. Not only are you charged €20 per month when you join, but if you don't cancel the billing within 7/14 days of the next month beginning they will charge you the next month's fee or... €49 per month. Sneaky stuff. And €49 per month, every month? Hello? And what do you get for that? Well, like everybody else I do not want to date specific types of people. So, I click that in the options. It would be a complete waste to be given them as an option. Yet, more than half of the options Academic Singles give me are precisely this. The "options" on this website are a joke, and reflective of how few people there actually are. Then, when you are looking at a particular option and you return to the main options - the website developer sends you to the start each time so you can thrall through the same people each and every time. Oh, and to add to this joke website, there are some options they don't even allow you for clearly their own ideological reasons. I want to date "white caucasian" but that's evidently not acceptable as an option to the owners. So, more time wasting ensues. Furthermore, the website is full of bots who message you just to get you signed up and then stop messaging. Lastly, there is a huge crossover between this website and its sister website 2be, so don't waste your money twice by paying for that also. Avoid these chancers.

Scam. I have tried to cancel this “subscription “ through email and even letter as requested by them. I never signed up in the first place.

Horrible experience both with the platform and customer support. They keep billing you, even though you tell them several times that you want to quit. No go, total scam, waste of time and money.
