More shabby than chic for starters

More shabby than chic for starters!
Rude host, claimed i was the least fit person to visit there due to me being out of breath pushing a delapidated wheelbarrow roughly 100 metres across very rough terrain to get our belongings to "the cabin". Not the most flattering way to introduce our stay!
"The cabin" looks great on the pictures on the site (and Air b&b) but in reality needs a lot of work to get it up to a decent and safe standard.
Broken steps, dirty cups, dirty plates and dirty pans. The fridge had orange staining which could be cleaned out but wasn't. The concept is quirky and uses old pieces of furniture along side home made, but the finish is just not there. Curtains in the bedroom (grease stained old table cloth cut in two) pinned up with drawing pins and held open with a couple of two inch screws and closed together using a clothes peg, added little to the romance of it all!
The fire pit was exactly that, a pit! Broken and rotten bench to sit on and it all looked like it needed clearing away and being built properly. No way would anyone want to enjoy that.
The outdoor twin bath tubs look and sound romantic on the Internet, but in reality, the stream is almost blocked with detritus, the steps down to it are rotten sections of tree which are unsafe and collapsing.
The outdoor "sofa" really is the creakiest piece of furniture! Sitting and moving around on this ruined any attempt of viewing wildlife, or enjoyment of the peaceful ambience!
We booked in for a birthday stay for two nights, but after a disturbing introduction to a back to basics cabin and all it's dirty and dilapidated areas we left after one sleepless night and were glad to get back to our clean home.
Timothy, you need to work on your customer relations and take a hard look at what you have there. It could be beautiful, but sadly now has faded into a messy run down shack which wouldn't look out of place in an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies!
By the way, you need to repair the potholes and handrail by the bridge! Really not safe at all!

Thank you for your feedback, and I'm sorry your stay didn't meet your expectations.

I apologise for my comment about fitness. It was meant light-heartedly but was misjudged, and I'm sorry it upset you.

The cabin is deliberately rustic, reached by a short walk over the brook and through our old damson orchard, and most guests love that character. I do take your points on board: the steps to the baths have now been replaced. I'm also sorry about the crockery. A late check-out made your early check-in a tight turnaround, and I've tightened up our changeover since.

The footbridge is on the Worcestershire Way and maintained by the council. I've reported it and am chasing a repair.

I'm glad we were able to agree a refund, and if you'd like to tell me more about the areas you were unhappy with, please do get in touch directly.
