4 months of unfinished work, and a fake employee name

I hired this company for a home renovation, and the work was left unfinished for over 4 months despite repeated reassurances. Any overlap with unrelated works being carried out by a different contractor for the building/previous owner was discussed and explicitly agreed upon from the very start, with no objection raised at the time — so this does not explain the months of delay on tasks that had nothing to do with it.

Throughout the entire project, administrative communication, including invoices, was handled under the name of an employee, "Kevin", who turned out not to exist — it was always the owner writing under that name. Despite a final deadline agreed and confirmed in writing, 10 days from the deadline itself an unqualified worker was sent for a minor part of the job, and I was told directly that there was no real intention of completing the agreed work.

I had to terminate the contract and am now pursuing legal action to recover what I paid. I would not recommend this company, especially regarding communication practices and reliability in keeping commitments.
