500px Decided to not pay me
I've using 500px for quite a while, maybe more than 5 years I don't remember.
As an amateur photographer, my main use of the city was to post some of my nice photos and get some opinions from the professionals in the community. At some point I decided to license a few of my photos, so why not right?
Over time I got a sale here and another there and got to a point where it would make sense to get a payout, so I completed the payout form, and the tax form and they said I will be contacted with updates soon.
Around 1 month and a half later nothing, no news, no email so I reach out to support and after another day they say "Your payment info was not verified so we need X,Y,Z now"
I was never contacted about that until I did, and te more I tried to get my money no luck, always something else always another thing, and don't get me wrong it is not $10,000 or so is a "beer money" amount.
I decided to allow 500px to steal my money, they seem to need it, and they made quite the effort to not pay me.
This is the first time I get so many difficulties with a payout, other sites worked perfectly, but not them.
My only regret is since I had licensed photos they won't let me delete the account, I wish I could.
I used to have a paid subscription to…
I used to have a paid subscription to 500px a couple years ago, and my landscape photos did really well into the high eighties in pulse. Then when I canceled my subscription and went to a free pro membership, all of sudden similar high quality photos stopped dead at about a pulse of about 39. If your a good photographer stay the f!!k away from this site because you will feel gutted. They just want to pimp photos at 3 cents pop. If you say no to licensing, your pics and your pulse won't be doing nothing.....Stay away!!!
What a unless application!!
What a unless application!!!
I registered there few weeks ago and already banned me cuz my photos is ''too erotic" serious guys?! When you can found 1million photos of nude!!!
I'll never register back !!!
500px and Getty Images Partnership Rip Off
I have been with 500px for over 10 years and have made many fellow photographer friends and enjoyed the community spirit. Like others I have submitted some of my images for purchase through their partnership with Getty images. I have made some money out of it but having recently had one of my photos published in NPhoto, the Nikon only magazine, I felt really chuffed and optimistic about making a good sale. However, I had to wait, 5 months before I got paid a measly £0.23. I thought at first this was a mistake, as it was a 2 page spread and must have been a high resolution image. I contacted 500px several times who eventually got back to me and came up with some lame excuse that the money from this sale would have been a 3 way split and basically said this was the situation in the current climate in stock photo photography which was total nonsense. In a recent centre spread in Dorset Magazine I was paid well over £100 instantly once my invoice was sent. Clearly this is the way forward for me. I feel this company shows little consideration for the work of others with the effort photographers put into showcasing their work and I have now removed all my photos and cancelled my account. I have also been unhappy with the lack of support and consideration for the photographic community, which clearly seems to be an issue at the moment. I will also be writing to NPhoto about this situation, as I have been a long time user of this magazine and sure they would be interested in this . Shame on you 500px.
Right now this is just bad
Right now this is just bad. The service itself is ok (well, they have some strange thing going on while review pictures but that how it is) but to pay for a service that dont work several hours a day is not ol
Unfair
I used to enjoy this platform. It has a nice community and is very user friendly. But the moderators are real a**hol*'s! If you make the mistake to forget to switch the NSFW tag on when posting nude art photos. You'll receive a warning by email. But you don't get the chance to fix it. You account is banned immediately. When you ask what's going on? You'll meet a rude helpdesk!
It's a scam company
It's a scam company. They will take your money without an announcement. 3 years they took more then 150 euro. After complaints they do not discuss but they react like that's a normal procedure. Do not I repeat, do not use this scam ompany for your pictures.
The level has greatly decreased over…
The level has greatly decreased over the years and you can find like-minded people there who have little to no idea about photography. The algorithm is the biggest weak point and I have been banned for making negative comments (constructive comments) or I would be banned. Once a great forum, but now the pinnacle and rallying point of low level photographers and sorry, yes, losers in life (You feel it, when you read their reaction on a comment). Too bad really good photos and photographers are drowning there. Long live the pseudo freedom of speech and the "Give me a Like so that you also get a Like" - mentality. Just look at the "popular photos", daily photos are shown that have 10,000 views but just only 130 likes, so a disastrous ratio. Photos that have 2,000 views and 250 likes are not to be found there. So, this forum is for narrow minded people and photographers with low ambitions to be a good photographer. For that, this forum is now perfect.
Banned
I am a boudoir photographer and some of my images contain nudity. They have two categories, Nude and Boudoir with thousands of images showing genitals but some how they determined that one of mine violated their terms of service and they immediately banned my account after many years of paid membership. One of my photos even won editors choice.
Don't be fooled and don't upload your content to a Chinese owned company.
60 bucks thrown away: NOT FAIR!
NOT FAIR!
I deactivated the automatic payment some week ago (then I forgot to double check: my fault) and "autoMagically" the recurring payment is... active again > :-(
I contacted their support and the guy told me that the renewal of the subscription has never been deactivated o_O and that they sent to me an email as a reminder one week before the expiring date ... NEVER RECEIVED!
60 bucks throw away as I am sure I disabled the subscription on time: very bad customer service! >:-(

censorship Russian style
I just got banned, after posting a comment on the Ukrainian war of the war criminal Putin - pure censorship, Russian style.
When asked about the reasons, 500px answerd with some old-fashioned anti gay sentiment.
Watch out!
WARNING
Omg, avoid this site like the plague. Absolute and utter rubbish. Can’t even close my account after I was hacked via this site…..
Close down now you vile company.
The Chinese Made this Site Fartshit
I used to love this site. Ever since the Chinese company bought it out, it has gone to absolute shiz. The resolution of the photos is super low now, you can't see best of in lenses and cameras, it is just awful. Frick them.
This is my last 500px review
This is my last review posting on 500px. I thought maybe Ive been tooo harsh in my opinion about their Support. However since I sent my 1st email to 500px at the beginning of February ive not hada single reply.
So people if you have an issue/grievances with them dont expect any responses unless its in their favour.
Personally I call their attitude ignorant, arrogant, disrespectful and completely unprofessional, and maybe other choice discriptions I could make about them. Sad really as I was a Pro Member for so many years. They will take your money easily after that..... well those that join will soon find out, and for goodness sake do not upset them..You will suffer.
I would give cero stars if I am allow…
I would give cero stars if I am allow to do so. They are not accepting your photos for licensing for whatever the reasons are and they are putting ultra well know pictures of "well known users" to attract you and scam you. I have pictures with license in other places with less restrictions, some of those pictures were rejected by 500px and that is the reason why I think they are forcing their users to choose a paid subscription, don't do that, if you sell a photo you will get peanuts, 0,01$, that is the 60% royalties, liers. They became an scam.
Refund Refusal- No warning of renewal
$60 was taken from my account. Unknowingly 500px had been set up to take an automatic years payment from me. Their policy says they send an email to let you know 7 days before. I have no email anywhere in any folder, never did, still don't. The person I spoke to was rude and unhelpful and said "You can dispute it with your Paypal account but we won't be refunding it." Might as well be theft as they didn't fufill their duty to inform of an upcoming payment, I now I am lacking money for bills.
Auto renew was on my membership without…
Auto renew was on my membership without my knowledge and I was charged today and only notified by PayPal that I was charged. I asked for a refund on the membership I have not used but this was refused. I always said to people how good this website was not anymore I’m fully done with it. Disgusting. Under the consumer rights act everyone has 14 days to return something unused. Honestly disgusted, I won’t be using the website again like I did plan on doing.. so they lost my custom, got a bad review and I got the money back from PayPal. 500px nice customer service..
This website and company really went down hill. They ruined themselves with bad customer service.
