It was awesome! Great facilities and equipment. Very spacious. I did 2 classes and they were great. V happy I joined! Also the assistant manager there was so helpful.

Best quality/price

Keira’s classes are fab
I have been attending Keira’s classes (circuits, body tone and legs,bums & tums) for about 2 months and they are fantastic. Keira is very organised, keeps the workouts fresh and very enthusiastic. As a result I’ve noticed a real improvement in my personal performance which is testament to Keira. Highly recommended.

Very good, Jim, helpful and friendly staff.T
I find this gym, very good with helpful friendly staff, the equipment is well maintained, and if anything is wrong with any of it, the staff are keen to help to resolve the problem my one concern is the parking outside of the gym, we find when ever we arrive, the disabled parking spaces, which I need as a disabled person, are always full of cars that are not qualify to park in that space. it would be helpful if the staff could keep an eye on this, and make sure that people if you park there are qualified to do so.

We’re afraid it's true, our gyms simply are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym.

Great atmosphere and good personal trainers especially Tom which is been amaizing every step of the way towards a healthy lifestyle and weight loss. He is very helpful during classes and explains how to do every exercises in a proper way. PT sessions with him are really good. He knows what your limits are and how to keep you safe at the same time. Overall great gym.

St Albans Herts gym
Enjoy the gym location near my home, flexible opening times, and excellent range of equipment. However sometimes the St Albans gym air conditioning is not working and it’s too hot and uncomfortable to work out in so the air not very fresh. Today no one to follow it up with on duty being a Saturday morning.

Can’t believe its the peak month and…
Can’t believe its the peak month and there are only 2 fully working cable machines.
Why is it that it takes ages to fix something and when it eventually gets addressed it breaks again quickly.
The leg extension machine took many months to address.
Limited equipment as it is in this gym and then you have regular breakdowns.
Many people are getting fed up and you will end up losing customers.
Would be good if the place invested in a cable rows machine too.

Update: appreciate the response, but actions speak louder than words. The staff are equally as disappointed because it’s out of their control too.
It’s not a new thing. Has been consistently ongoing for a few years now. Feedback definitely doesn’t get taken onboard. And lastly the gym is open 24 hours but not manned for that time. So someone like me has no one to ever talk to during my workout sessions.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can.

Members not tidying after themselves (from late night - before 6am). Machines not maintained very well.
Still waiting for a new leg extension since August
Considering going elsewhere (but PureGym is cheap and 24hrs)

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this.

OK overall but machines need much better maintenance
The machines seem not to get fixed for very long time - e.g. a rowing machine on the ground floor has been out of order for several weeks now. Many other machines are difficult or impossible to adjust for height, because the insertion rod mechanism does not work properly.

I like the facility and the equipment but...
I like the facility, the equipment overall. Despite the assurance that the loud music and class instructors will be reviewed, it hasn't made much difference.

Limited equipment compared to other…
Limited space and equipment compared to other Puregym’s, and to add salt to the wound, equipment is regularly out of order and takes a long time to fix. Need to up the standards as a lot of people are shifting to pump in Hatfield.
People in groups always hogging the equipment or taking long breaks whilst on their phones. Something needs to be done about that.

We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any other/specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed.
Unfortunately, we are unable to monitor the usage of phones in our gyms, however if people are sitting on equipment I would strongly advise approaching a member of staff on the floor who will be able to help further.
