This was our first visit to Pure Gym…
This was our first visit to Pure Gym Rayleigh. Very impressed with the facilities and equipment available, which is also very well laid out and accessible with clearly defined areas. The staff were very helpful and we spoke to the assistant manager, Jake who was very helpful showing us how to use a couple of machines and asking how we were getting on. Just a couple of observations, we couldn’t see any hand sanitizer dispensers on the ground floor but did use the facilities upstairs to wash our hands… I also found the App quite confusing to find the QR code to gain entry but that’s just a couple of minor things… we’ll certainly be using the Rayleigh gym again. Really impressed, thanks

Today was for us at the age of 81
Today was for us at the age of 81, a new and exciting experience, we joined Pure Gym, what an amazingly joyful experience.
My husband and I strongly recommend this experience at Pure Gym.
The staff were helpful and the clients too, I felt rather spoilt when a young man gave up his bike for me, as he thought it would suit this Old Bird better.
I can’t stress it enough, leave the sofa behind, forget the TV? Join Pure Gym

Wouldn't waste your time/money
Went there with a day pass, one their day pass price is more expensive than other gyms. Two the gym I went to (Rayleigh) was awful they only have one machine for each movement so your waiting around for a long time for other people to finish their workout. The olympic weights are minimal people taking them off other machines and asking if people are using them as it's very limited to what they have. Three there was no signs to say the gym continues up the stairs, the only sign they have is saying studio and changing rooms upstairs. The last thing is all their leg machines are up stairs apart from the leg press... What gym puts legs upstairs after a hard session you then have to navigate the stairs to leave.
In short the gym is small, limited weights and machines and gym layout in my opinion is wrong.

Great staff but gym dated.
The staff are knowledgeable friendly and approachable.
The showers are quite often well below
acceptable standards of cleanliness.
The gym is long overdue a refurbishment. The equipment is old and some of it is not fit for purpose.
I have been told that as there is no competition in the area PureGym will not do a refit.

Not good
Poor changing facilities. Equipment was not properly fitted together (benches loosely fixed together and tredmill belt not fitted right) general unwelcoming atmposhere. Poor acess control.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken.

Decent Gym and Equipments
Decent size gym with all necessary equipments. Good value for money. Open 24/7. People/staffs are friendly. Very nice local gym :)

Variable experience
Today was a good class (sweat 45) and I worked hard a new instructor who was friendly but Mondays class was changed from a 45 minute class to a 30 minute class then started 5 minutes late and finished 5 minutes early making it a 20 minute class. My watch said I exercised for 16 minutes ☹️.
