Not cheap enough to be the cheap 'n cheerful option. A very slow and underwhelming refurbishment. Everyone has left to the new JD in Chester on the same estate. Needs a good clean, dusting and a sauna to compete with the same price point. Enjoyed the occasional free pass though.

Greeted by member off staff. Clean equipment good environment. Lockers on show you don’t have to worry about getting nicked.

The recent refurb is a bit disappointing - just a bit of teal paint and LEDs here and there, new carpet tiles and a hyrox-style area downstairs. White paintwork is still grubby and stained, windows upstairs dirty and cobwebbed, the x-trainer machines are rusty, rowing machines in poor state of repair, and little pride shown by some customers who leave water bottles and weights discarded. Very little space for stretching and cooldown. Only plus is that it’s cheap and super convenient, but seriously considering moving to JD on the same retail park.

I'm bodybuilder for the last 23 years. Today was my first time in pure gym in years. First impression was that there is lots space for more equipment and fells like waste of space. Equipment is not ok at best. Don't get me wrong, average dude will say its amazing. Dumbells are lacking grip. Handles are almost smooth. For such a big gym there is very few machines and those narrow cable machines are everywhere but they are just not the best. I put all plates on every machine and was doing reps easily. Good things are that gym is clean. People seems ok. Easy to get membership. Variety of cardio equipment. For some reason atmosphere is kind of sad but it may be just my first impression. Overall it's fine gym with most you will need. May be overcrowded very often so dont try 5pm because yku will be probably waiting for every machine for a bit. I wish there was employee like me who could help people to get familiar with machines and exercises. I love train people but do something else at the moment. 3 star is just because I've seen a lot so it may be 4 or more for average user. Well im not special or anything just have extensive experience. Ther is definitely nothing bad to say about them so far.

The trainer we met did hardly anything to enquire except to ask whether we had used a gym before. We were shown a bike in order to explain its adjustments (no problems) but virtually no explanation of any other equipment except a bench press.
More enquiries should be made to find out what the customer wanted and more enquiry into customers experience.

Pros:
It is a gym.
Cons:
Half the lockers have broken locks and the ones that aren't broken have been padlocked shut or have clothes in when there is not another soul in the gym (I go around 3am) this has been the case for months now and none of the staff have noticed.
I've also seen discarded or forgotten water bottles left in the same spot for over a week. Again, none of the staff noticed.
They got rid of the cleaning stations for some reason so you can't wipe down any equipment you use.
Plates and cable equipment strewn all over the place, a lot of them being tripping hazards. Nobody is ever punished for not reracking weights or putting equipment back despite it being Rule #1.
Bare minimum when it comes to weightlifting machines, a lot of which are out of order regularly. Cable machines accessories are in horrible condition, bordering on dangerous and rarely replaced.
No air conditioning in off peak hours. I contacted them about this issue and they said it was to reduce their carbon footprint. Maybe a better idea would be to keep the air conditioning on and turn the ear blistering music off so I can't hear it over my own earbuds.
The only reason I'm still there after 3 years is there's no other 24hr gym close by. Thankfully that is soon changing.

Plenty of equipment however, feels very clinical, not much personality. Turn the music up. Could not see a water fountain.

Joining was brilliant. Help from the staff was fantastic.
But at times , I have walked out of shower to find a woman standing in front of me. No sign on door to advise members that a opposite sex will be in the changing rooms throughout the day.
I did let management know. And it took some weeks for them to apply sign.
