Extremely difficult to cancel -No response from the Support
I joined my local PureGym in Bicester but didn’t like the atmosphere and decided to cancel my membership shortly after joining. Unfortunately, cancelling has been an absolute nightmare.
Despite PureGym claiming it’s “easy to cancel anytime,” the reality is completely different. Their website’s cancellation process is confusing and poorly designed, and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find a clear way to stop my membership. Even after emailing their support team multiple times, I’ve received no response at all.
Meanwhile, PureGym continues to take money via direct debit every month, even though I’ve made every possible effort to cancel. The lack of customer support and transparency is extremely disappointing.
PureGym needs to simplify their cancellation process and actually respond to members’ emails. This experience has been frustrating, time-consuming, and completely avoidable if they had proper customer service in place.

Overall good
Overall good, but ventilation around the cardio area can be better, with a lower temperature to the rest of the gym.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Too Hot and crowded
Way too over crowded, people waiting for machines and equipment, disturbs whole workout.
Shoddy air con if any, so hot your sweating before you even start

We’re afraid it's true, our gyms are very popular and so can become busy, especially at peak times. The busyness of the gym does fluctuate throughout the day, or depending on the day of the week and you can check how busy the gym is before attending on your PureGym app.

The classes are good however
The classes are good however, due to the recent timetable changes these have impacted the classes that I can attend. I cannot fault the instructors however, there was a stretch class on a Friday which has been cancelled a couple of times at the last minute as it clashes with another class on a Friday and there are not enough instructors to teach 2 classes. The stretch class has been running for a long time on a Friday and to now lose this class is very disappointing. Stretch is as important as strength and mobility classes and in order for me to keep attending the gym then I need to ensure I attend at least one stretch class a week. The class has moved to a Thursday and for 30 minutes, which is a day not convenient to myself. 30 minutes is also too short due to the time it takes to get to the gym and I am not going to do an 18 mile round trip for a 30 minute class. I cannot fault the quality and professionalism of the instructors but Pure Gym does have a high turnover of staff which does affect the classes and attendance whilst changes happen.

The class timetable is regularly reviewed in line with member feedback and on occasions will need to be adapted to account for the space in club as well as the staff on site available to run the classes.

Nice spacious gym
Nice spacious gym, had a nice workout. All equipment available and was able to use the machines I needed. People are also respectful.

The gym is crazy busy
The gym is crazy busy. Such a shame. Don’t think I’ll be signing up. I came at 9pm on a Saturday evening and the business bar looks really low compared to the rest of the week (mid-week). Even at this time I can’t get on any machines and bumping into people moving around. Awful, especially for £30 per month. I used to pay £18 in Nottingham for a gym three times the size

Just don’t need the joining fee. It put me off for a month till I found away around it.

Joining fees are applied to cover the initial administration costs associated with setting up a new membership and direct debit agreement.
A joining fee would be applicable in these circumstances unless there is an active promotion available.

No safety brackets/spotter arms on squat racks
The gym has everything you need to enjoy a good workout. However the gym did not have any safety brackets/spotter arms to attach to the squat racks, in case of failure. The other Pure Gyms I have visited have had these.
