Beware of unexpected invoice after order

We ordered a Christmas tree with pickup included. The receipt/order confirmation states that tree pickup costs 0 SEK, yet we later received an invoice.
Despite repeated contact, the company was unable to explain why the invoice contradicts their own receipt.
Poor communication and unclear pricing. Keep all documentation and be cautious when ordering.

A very mixed experience

It’s not easy to leave a clear-cut review because the experience was quite mixed - though my anxiety was probably influenced by the overwhelming number of bad reviews I read in the meantime.

We ordered a pine without checking Trustpilot, and I panicked a bit afterwards. On the delivery day, the order was cancelled without explanation, rescheduled for the same evening, and then cancelled again. At that point, I was convinced I’d lost my money. Thankfully, the tree arrived the next day.

It could have been just a little bit fresher, but it’s not bad at all and looks lovely once decorated. I was also pleasantly surprised that it’s about 150 cm tall - I ordered the 100–150 cm range and wasn’t expecting one at the upper end without paying extra for the 150-200 range.

There are very few places where you can order a pine, so it’s disappointing that the service seems inconsistent. I was hoping this could be something we’d use every year, but I guess time will tell.

No Customer Service

The delivery person was polite, which gave a good first impression. However, upon checking my order, I noticed several issues: some of the red balls were incomplete, the golden balls were missing, and instead I received extra champagne-colored balls. Following the instructions to verify if the tree was fresh, I have doubts—it looks highlighted underneath, which suggests it wasn’t fresh.
I immediately emailed the company explaining everything, but never received a response. I stopped the payment via Klarna, yet it seems they have no intention of fixing the missing or incorrect items. Later, I received an email asking what the problem was (in Swedish). I replied in both English and Swedish, but was ignored again.
Now I just hope they pick up the tree when I book it. This experience makes me question the company’s reliability—there is zero customer service.

do not ever buy a tree from this…

do not ever buy a tree from this company, complete and utter con. you will be truly disappointed with the small, broken and sick tree they deliver. After paying over 1000sek for a tree, i had to go and buy another other immediately. and the non existent customer support is a joke. stay away you will 100% regret your decision,

Warning – awful tree, no customer service and very worrying background

We have used Smålandsgran before, but our 2025 order was the final straw.

The tree we received was awful and nowhere near what we paid for: too small, hardly any foliage and absolutely not at the level they promise when they market their “premium trees”. When we tried to get help, we were met with complete silence. There is no functioning phone number on the website, customer service does not reply to emails, and their CEO does not respond even when contacted directly on a number she herself has published in business contexts. Meanwhile the tree is standing unused in a bucket and our children are upset because the promised Christmas tree cannot be decorated in the days before Christmas.

That alone would be bad enough, but the wider picture is worse. Public records show that two companies in the Smålandsgran group, including Smålandsgran AB, have gone bankrupt with large debts under the same management, and their publishing company Benzer Publishing AB has been wound up in liquidation.

Aftonbladet and SVT have also reported that Smålandsgran wrongly labelled ordinary imported trees as organic/KRAV, which led to Plantagen and other partners cutting ties and to KRAV certification being withdrawn, and that well known Swedish celebrities were shown on the site as “ambassadors” without having agreed to it.

At the same time, the sister company by Benson AB, with the same management and address, is reporting large losses and very heavily negative equity in its latest public accounts, and already has a high share of one star reviews on Trustpilot where many people complain about non delivery and very poor customer service.

To me this looks like a clear pattern: big promises in the marketing, poor quality in reality, extremely weak after-sales and companies ending up in very bad financial shape or outright bankruptcy. Based on my own experience I would never risk buying here again. Honestly this is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

Late Delivery

Unfortunately the delivery was 2 days late and the app told me that the tree would be delivered and was 2 stops away. I had friends waiting with me to decorate it, but it just stressed us because it kept on saying it would get here. there is no telephone number to call so I wrote to the customer service and on messenger, as I saw the truck driving by my house. Unfortunately there was no compensation for the tree being so late and they also were not able to deliver it in the morning delivery. Other than that the tree is very beautiful, majestic and big and it did work well last year. Hopefully this was a one-off but it is quite annoying not being able to call anywhere

Horrible

Horrible. Tree was full of bugs that infested our house. I guess this can happen - it's nature, right? But the customer service after I contacted them about it was abysmal. Customer Satisfaction Guarantee?! Ha! Good luck with that. No help. No compensation. They even wanted to charge me to come pick up the tree to remove the infestation they delivered to my house! Will never order here again. (And wish I'd read some of the other reviews here before I did, as the customer service seems to be universally horrible.)

Hi Jeff! Unfortunately, this occurs if it is mild outside and especially if it is a little wet. This never happens if the temperature is below zero. Our trees come directly from the forest and are also stored outdoors, so this can unfortunately occur. Our trees are also unsprayed and the fact that there are insects is proof that there are no pesticides.

We are of course very sorry for your experience. This happened 1-2 weeks after your delivery, and the right to return it does not apply to our fresh products and we cannot refund you due to insects in the tree. We offered to do a pick-up of the tree for the normal pick-up fee.

The product they deliver doesn’t match…

The product they deliver doesn’t match with the pictures they promote. I made a complaint and they send just as miserable of a tree just a bit taller and bigger. After refusing the bigger tree (it was big and it was nothin like the picture, their delivery girl even agreed with me). They refuse to exchange it, and just gave me 30% discount. I don’t want your horrible discount or horrible tree. This will be the last time I order from here, worst customer service.

I ordered a tree that was 100-150cm tall,
And they sent over a 200cm tree that was literally double the width , and way too big for my apartment, and I rejected that tree cause of the size and it was still nothing like the picture, even their driver agreed with me.
I don’t expect my tree to be exactly 143cm but I do expect it to be the size range I ordered.
They have delivered the wrong size 2 times in a row to a friend of mine, and they ended with the right tree and 50% off. However, I get to keep my ugly tree and get 30% off. They are scammers. It costed me 500kr after the discount for a 100-150cm tree, I went to Bauhuas and got a much fuller tree of the same type for 199kr. You scam people and you have no shame about doing it; you literally had 1 job.

For two years now we have received a…

For three years now we have received a beautiful tree but ... they need a fresh cut the day they are delivered. The tree drinks no water at all which means it will dry out quickly. This is such a waste and could so easily be remedied!

Terrible, terrible, terrible

I ordered a tree last Christmas, and it arrived 2am in the middle of the night, 8 hours too late. This woke up our baby. The tree looked like crap, so be bought a new one on the local square.
