Otter handled my refund request with remarkable speed and kindness. Allan went out of his way to make an exception despite the usual refund policy, turning a potentially frustrating situation into a genuinely positive experience.
Although I can’t use Otter at the moment due to my employer’s compliance rules, I was truly impressed by both the product and the professionalism of the support team. If my circumstances change, Otter will be one of the first tools I return to.

Horrible software. Not user friendly, layout is just to chaotic and at the end - it doesn´t do the job. The main thing is - you have to leave your card details to be abale to get the free trial and even I decided the same day I´d like to cancel the free 14-day trial it was almost impossible to do so. The chatbox is usless, the 'human' never get back to you. Very frustrating and still - I am forced to 'use' the trial by the July 23... I assume that I ´ll be charged the full year subscription although I haven´t used the software one single time!!!

Terrible to use! The app wouldn't let me access a transcript from the previous day. The app said I had no Wi Fi connection. I clearly had a strong Wi fi connection. Support is abysmal.I asked for help both by email and chat and received no response! Do NOT recommend!

I recently subscribed to Otter ai on behalf of my husband (Pro yrly subscription). I received an invite to my personal address (i signed up previously for a trial) to become a team member but there was absolutely no mention of there being a charge for joining and Pro indicates small teams. As soon as I accepted Invite, I was charged for a full year. I raised a support ticket - no reply as yet but asked chatbot and was informed there is a no refund policy. This is extremely disappointing, unethetical and not acceptable. shame on you Otter ai

I paid for a one month subscription for $16.99 yesterday afternoon to give Otter a try for a short period of time. In the middle of the night, literally, 3 a.m., I got a notification from my credit card company that Otter attempted to put through another $118.93 charge without my knowledge or authorization. That's it. I don't need a month. The first 12 hours showed me all I needed to know. I am done and have canceled my subscription. Bye bye....

The service, and their AI is awful. I have to manually edit every single conversation I upload, regardless of whether or not it's a good quality recording or not.
The nail in the coffin for me was that their AI was unable to determine sex of people, regardless of their names. It automatically assumed that the two people being discussed were a man and a woman, and so the summaries always keep referring to the other person as "she", even though he is a "he", and has a male name.
I emailed them about this, and they disregarded it, and acted as if it wasn't a big deal. If you want accuracy, use free transcription, or do it yourself. The time you need to spend editing makes it completely worthless.

Horrible at providing any value outside of their app - they use a lot of dark UX patterns like forcing you to export transcripts one chat at a time. They also are shady with their billing/invoicing. We have paid them thousands of dollars that I requested refunds for and cancelations. They are not very helpful at helping you use their app, if anything it feels like they want you to forget you ever signed up.

Otter.ai has been used to help capture and transcribed 10 interviews for me (academic background needing transcription for qualitative analysis).
Otter has consistently failed to capture or transcribe 32% of the material. These were all on Zoom thank God and I could get the info. But Otter.ai had one job, and in my world 68% is not passing. What a waste of time, effort and money

I am a long-time user, I really like the product.
Recently I was in contact with Customer Services. The reps are very professional, answer in a kind, patient, to-the-point manner. The answers are personal - it is very clear that it is a human taking care of the matter.
I needed to pick up a previous conversation 2 weeks after it was closed, still the customer service rep clearly looked through the previous conversation and answered my question patiently, kindly and overall in a professional and caring manner. I feel taken care of and knowing that my issue is solved.

Absolute garbage. I have a personal email, and an email I use for microsoft, the meeting was recorded and sent to my personal email, I can't get to it without getting permission from the meeting people to switch to my microsoft account, which only exists to keep those heathens away.
I have shuttered programs at work related to Microsoft and their lack of privacy.

I was on a Zoom call pitching a workshop to board members. Otter's AI Notetaker joined my meeting to transcribe. When I left the call, the Notetaker stayed in the meeting and kept recording. The board members couldn't remove it, and they had a confidential discussion to move on to. This created a major privacy issue and made me look extremely unprofessional. When you leave a meeting, your Notetaker should leave with you. The auto-join settings are also buried and hard to find. I've since disabled auto-join entirely, but the damage was already done.

Transcription accuracy poor with >1 speaker, overlap, painful edits to clean up. Cost ridiculous as limited by # files not duration… about $2-3 per transcription. Couldn’t delete credit card info. Slow customer response. Not easy to cancel

The UX is clunky. You click upload a video, nothing happens, repeat nothing happens, repeat... Then you find you've used all 10 monthly uploads on two videos when you get ten emails.
The Complaints procedure is convoluted. There is no mechanism to recredit the 8 upload credits due to poor UX and poor workflows.
The AI bot refund procedure doesn't send you a copy of your complaint, the Complaint then disappears into a black hole.
After many complaints, all of which require me to know how I took out my subscription as they appear to have no records of how I did, I've requested their Ombudsmen details to escalate, but again been ignored.
I found writing the video audio by hand to be quicker. Apparently, you can train it to recognise voices and not jumble the speech all under the wrong speaker. Well if you haven't used your months credits on two short videos due to poor UX and work flows you could.
The time doesn't copy and paste, so again - by hand.
The product is painful, poor UX. Poor workflows, no Customer Service, No process to cancel or even confirm your not on auto renew. In three words: stressful waste of time.
I'd avoid - save yourself 7 hours wrestling with the non existant complaints procedure. 7 hours of your life you'll never get back.

I hate otter.ai. I want to get rid of it and stop it from logging into my zoom meeting. The recommended thing to do, if you don't want to read 26 (literally) of their help articles is to delete your account. If only I could login... Their is no, zero, zip, nada way to reset your password. Grrrrrrr....

First and foremost, I almost never leave reviews or go out of my way to publicly criticize a company, even when it may be warranted. I generally believe most issues can and should be resolved directly between the customer and the organization. However, this experience needs to be flagged because it has been one of the most infuriating and time-wasting experiences I’ve ever had with a company I’ve paid.
I genuinely enjoyed the service for a while, but things went downhill once they began limiting uploads.
Their software rarely captured audio from my Google Meet meetings - which is my primary use case. I went through multiple rounds of troubleshooting, but nothing consistently solved the problem. Eventually, I was forced to record meetings on my phone or another device and manually upload them afterward just to get the functionality I was paying for.
Then, despite the fact that I only relied on uploads because their core recording technology wasn’t working properly, they capped uploads at just 10 per month.
The most frustrating part was customer support. Both chat and email felt entirely bot-driven, leading to endless circular conversations where I had to repeat myself multiple times without ever receiving meaningful help or resolution.
Beyond frustrating. I genuinely wish I had never started using them.

It did a very good job of transcribing a very long meeting I trialed. Output was clear and unambiguous. I accidentally did not cancel the trial in time and support refunded me immediately. From this perspective customer support was excellent and I would use the product again.
