I attend several JD gyms in the area and none of them have got the same problem like the one in Wythenshawe. The best thing is I do not like to moan about how bad something is as there are more interesting things to do but in the case of that gym it's just been going for too long and it seems that nothing improves with time, quite the opposite, it all deteriorates.
Air conditioning never works - if it's 25 degrees outside it can go up to 30 and more inside, don't even mention situations when outside is above that temperature. Then working out is completely unbearable.
In winter on the other hand it's always a few degrees above the temperature outside. I don't know how you do it guys but it seems that whoever holds that franchise has only put the down payment to open the facility and then just decided not to reinvest again.
I haven't seen free weights being reracked even once. 10kgs lying on the 34kgs place and 34s lying somewhere in another dimension. Cleanliness needs attention, it's not to the best standard. Other JD's can definitely do it much better.
In other JD Gyms I noticed PT cleaning and doing the work around the gym in Wythenshawe sadly not so it might just be a problem with the lack of professionalism. One star is still a good score for what the gym represents currently. The worse parts is that probably the gym owners are not going to take it on the chin and do something about it but brush it off and pretend that everything is great. It's not, far from it.
Hygiene concerns, inconsistent rule enforcement, contradictory operating hours and repeated unavailability of the sauna
For a large, high-traffic fitness centre, having only one sanitising wipes station, hidden behind a pillar, falls well below the hygiene standards I would reasonably expect.
The inconsistent operation of the sauna has prevented me from receiving the full benefit of the membership for which I have paid. During my first eight days of membership, the female sauna was unavailable on five separate occasions.
Baguley
Extremely hot unbelievable +33 inside the gym not outside 😩

Gym membership is oversold , especially Wythenshaw JD ……. It’s sooooooo overcrowded!
Gym locker room is dirty
Members vape in the gym and when you report this to members of staff they say “there is nothing we can do”
Members Hogg the machines and play on their phones not allowing anyone to use the machines .
There has to be more discipline in the gym regarding rules

I was going to this gym for 2 years before moving to a different gym due to moving location, I came back this month and its exactly the same, most of the machines are faulty, weights being left everywhere, some of the P.Ts are rude, one of the P.Ts shout if you do not like what we are doing you can suck my b***s during a class, its too expensive all you are paying for is the name not the equipment, if it had an upgrade then I would stay.

It’s a big gym with loads of parking spaces. The equipment is a bit old and outdated. It also would have helped if we were given an onboarding to show us around and explain some of the different ways of using the equipment.

Facility is clean overall but not immaculate, still dusty / grubby in the areas that take a bit more effort to reach (finer areas around benches, beneath dumbell racks etc)
Main gripe would be Dumbells seemingly not reset in order of weight / put in correct places by staff each day, I could be wrong but doesn’t seem to happen
But this isnt a complaint, as I say - overall a very good facility by the 3 / 4 visits i’ve had so far. Happy to continue

I’ve always for years enjoyed Jd
I’ve noticed and increasingly amount of younger people school/college age have joined. This is great to see, but I do think a lot don’t no what they are doing so standing talking around the equipment not actually really using so it has impacted on how much I can do, I’ve seen others talking about the same thing.
I’m all for them using a joining it’s great to see young people doing it but they may need a guidance around equipment.

It's got a good range of equipment and isn't busy, but the air conditioning is bobbins. On a cool day at about 1/3 full. It's like walking into a rainforest.
After a month and more context: the range is good but it's a big box gym so there's like one of everything which is awkward at busy times. Air conditioning seems to be adequate but just run completely at random; it can be cool outside and empty inside but a sauna, or nice and crisp on a hot day at five pm.

Very good gym, has a lot of equipments more that other gyms ive been too in the area, their app could become better as it doesn’t track any fitness goals etc but the gym itself is very high standard

Number of machines available
Clean and welcoming
Members need to move off free weights when finished instead of just sitting there texting when other members are waiting

I recently switched to this gym after around 4–5 years at PureGym, so I do have a fair point of comparison.
Unfortunately, my experience so far hasn’t been great. The gym doesn’t feel as clean as it should be, which is quite disappointing.
The main issue, however, is the equipment. Compared to PureGym, the machines here are not very user-friendly. They are quite difficult to adjust, and it’s not always clear how to use them properly. I often find myself struggling to set them up correctly, which makes workouts less enjoyable and more frustrating.
There also seems to be less variety in the equipment, and it’s not always obvious what each machine is designed for or how to use it safely.
I also noticed something quite concerning yesterday. While I was lying on the floor doing abs, I looked up at the ceiling windows and saw that they were covered in spiders and cobwebs.
Even though the ceiling is quite high, this is something that should still be cleaned regularly. It’s not very hygienic, and there’s always a risk that spiders or debris could fall down, which isn’t pleasant and could potentially cause skin issues.
This really added to my concerns about the overall cleanliness of the gym.
Overall, I feel that the gym could really improve in terms of cleanliness, equipment usability, and clarity of instructions.
