Absolutely dreadful! 0 stars! Don't use this company.
We booked 3 cars through Zest in the UK, who then used AUTOVIA at Pisa airport. I have never had such a dreadul experience in my life with a car hire company. We got one car and the man, RENO, would not give us another car. I had my 86 year old mother waiting with me. The queue was ridiculously slow. Firstly, we arrived 1 hour early and were told we would need to pay another 95 euros for each car if we wanted them an hour early. Obviously, we decided to wait. I then had to queue for another hour to try again. Reno was very difficult to deal with and incredibly uncharming and became down right rude. It was honestly like he didn't want to give us a car. Getting to payment, he told my husband that we had to have a credit card with our spelled out name on it, the standard card wouldn't do. Luckily we had this so my husband eventually got his car. He then refused to give me my car (as we were a group of 10 travelling so needed more than one car) because my name wasn't on the booking, it was under my nephews name. He slated Zest company for being the worst car hire people to use. Actually, the admin fault was with Autovia, they hadn't responded to the email with the name change which they received 3 days prior. Their registration office was then shut because it was Sunday so we couldn't speak to anyone. We then had to leave the queue with no car because other people were waiting. I had to contact my nephew to get proof of the email and token for the car with my name on it. We then had to queue for another hour. The couple infront of us, when we eventually got to the desk, were denied their car because they didn't have a credit card with their full name. He said he was going to charge them an extra £300 to use the credit card they did have which just had their initials and surname. So they could take payment and use that card, it was just as scam. Needless to say they left without a car. I then produced my token in my name, the email and the car hire document, and Reno still refused to give me a car. We called Paul from Zest who was working on a Sunday and he spoke to Reno at length on the phone across the desk and he still refused to give us the car because Autovia hadn't updated their admin system with my name, even though I'd produced all the correct paperwork and he'd had confirmation from both my nephew and Zest. It was absoutely outrageous. Reno lost his temper and shouted at me. I have never had such dreadful customer service. This man should not be working in any customer relations job. He is a discredit to this company. We had now spent 3 hours at the airport trying to get our second car and ended up having to walk away. We went to GOLDCAR booth opposite and hired another car immediately with no problems whatsoever. No scammy credit card extra charges and a charming woman who made the whole process easy. The couple of were being charged another £300 ended up having a public argument with Reno over the charge and he honestly treated them disgracefully. We were lucky to be able to get another car, otherwise half our party would have been stuck in Pisa. We ended up over 3 hours late checking in to our rental and very stressed . My mother was exhausted. We will, needless to say, never use this company again. If I could give them less than 0 I would.

€318.31 for a Scratch That Wasn’t…
€318.31 for a Scratch That Wasn’t There? Welcome to Autovia Pisa Airport.
At pickup, I pointed out a dent that wasn’t listed in the contract. A male staff member responded by lecturing me about why I should have bought their insurance instead of using third-party cover. Rude, condescending, and completely unnecessary. Apparently, noticing existing damage is a good way to get told off.
After returning the car, they claimed I’d caused a new scratch and demanded €318.31. I had photos taken immediately after drop-off showing no visible scratch, and I emailed them repeatedly. Their response? Complete silence.
I had to make it clear I was prepared to escalate the matter to consumer protection authorities before the deposit was eventually returned. Not one reply to my emails. Charming.
My advice: photograph and video every panel at pickup and return, keep the originals, and challenge any damage claim you dispute in writing. Don’t be afraid to escalate to the relevant consumer authorities if you’re ignored.
I’ve rented cars in plenty of countries, but this was a special combination of rude service and a frustrating damage dispute. Deposit returned in the end—but Autovia couldn’t even manage the courtesy of answering.

I wouldn’t even give this company 1…
I wouldn’t even give this company 1 star to be honest - this has to be one of the WORST experiences we have ever faced when travelling complete and utter SCAMMERS DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
We arrived at Pisa airport car rental and already had booked our car rental through easyJet when arriving we presented our documents along with our card which we paid the booking with however the lady Satar would not accept as the card name presented differently as initials (as UK banking does) rather than the full name we had booked with after presenting several more cards etc proving this was us, the customer service team become very rude and would not help us at all leaving us with NO car which we had paid for leaving us with no transport which we needed as we had to get to a wedding which was 2 hours away. Examples of the rudeness and aggressive behaviour were “they needed to get back to there job”, “saying we had a sad life”, “putting headphones in and ignoring us completely”, “getting up and going behind the desk and closing the door pretending we wasn’t there”, “saying we could get extra insurance and paying way more and then we couldn’t” the list goes on. The man there who would not give us his name to raise this complaint was so aggressive and rude so I can only describe him as a bold was so unhelpful and should not be working in hospitality what so ever.
We even spoke to the broker at easy jet who was fine with the card but the women and man were just being horrible and awkward.
We were then left with no car and was stuck until another car company kindly offered us what they had.
We were then left paying more money for another car rental.
When finally arriving at the wedding we found out another wedding guest had used the same car company and they had the same card issue however they were charged extra (triple) the insurance as the names on the card again didn’t match the name (initials on the card which most U.K. banks do).
I can only repeat DO NOT BOOK THIS CAR COMPANY!! SCAMMERS SCAMMERS SCAMMERS
Recommended car rental agency
Quick check in and out. Good service. Very good car, relatively new and clean. Price was also okay.

Autovia stole from me. I was charged twice for my rental, paid in full on collection, they then did an unauthorised charge on my credit card on return. I paid for a 5 seater car but was given one with only 4 seatbelts. At the time of picking up the car, I was with my young children and elderly father and it was late and very hot and we had had a long journey and since we were only 4 people at the time I didn't notice that there were only 4 belts. However, when we joined the rest of our family and were about to put another person in the car, we noticed this mistake. I complained about this at drop off but was told to email their customer care department. I have now emailed three times over the past month and have received absolutely no response. This is totally unacceptable and I would certainly not recommend this company to anybody

A truly appalling experience with Autovia/Ecovia at Pisa Airport
I booked car hire via Ryan AIr with Autovia/Ecovia. However when I presented at Autovia/Ecovia desk at Pisa Airport their representative refused to release car at the airport desk on pretext that they claimed my credit card to be used for deposit payment was from a “digital bank”. All other documentation was in order and not disputed eg credit card in my name as lead driver, valid confirmation email and valid ID.
However credit card presented was a VISA physical card, was not virtual payment card and is not issued by a “digital bank” as confirmed by my credit card company. I have used this credit card without any issue for previous car hire in the past including at Pisa Airport. The rental agreement received from Ryan Air furthermore makes no reference to “digital banks” as not being acceptable
Autovia/Ecovia therefore had no right to refuse my card.
What is a significant concern is that Autovia/Ecovia representative at the desk at Pisa was then prepared to release the car if I was prepared to pay a non-refundable “protection fee” of €300 to Autovia/Ecovia using the very same VISA credit card which they had earlier refused. I was appalled by this. This is at best poor practice and at worst potentially fraudulent.
To add to the extremely stressful experience Autovia/Ecovia representative was unhelpful and unsympathetic throughout.
We were forced to hire a car with another company at the airport at a much higher rate. This other car hire company had no problems accepting the very same credit card which Autovia/Ecovia had earlier refused
I have contacted Autovia Customer care direct but to date I have only received a perfunctory AI generated response from them saying that they will look into this incident.
A truly appalling experience from the start which has has ruined my vacation.
1/5 star rating is the lowest I was able to give in order to leave a review but if given the choice I would have given 0/5.

Very disappointed and have lost confidence!
I’m very disappointed and have lost all confidence in them!
Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with Autovia. When I returned the car I’d hired from them, they claimed there was damage amounting to just over 500 euros, even though the car they’d handed over to me had over 118,000 km on the clock and was covered in scuffs, scratches and dents. The contract did indeed list a large number of pre-existing damages when I took possession of the car, but it was far too easy for them to make up new ones. I therefore no longer have any confidence in this car hire company and will not be using their services again.

Highly unprofessional! Very bad customer service
Highly unprofessional! Hidden fees and stolen/lost items. Do not recommend! I highly discourage anyone from renting from Autovia Pisa Airport. They are extremely unprofessional.First of all, watch out for their rental guarantees and hidden costs. When you book online, you see one price. When you arrive at the desk, they force you to pay double that amount extra (insurance, dropping the blocked deposit and other hidden fees that should be included in the online cost). If you refuse, they won't refund your online payment, so you basically have no choice but to pay or lose your money.Secondly, I accidentally forgot a pair of Meta smart glasses inside the car. By the time I realized, I had already passed the airport check-in gates and couldn’t go back. I immediately called them. They dragged their feet, making excuses that they would check, but after countless phone calls and emails, their final answer was that 'there was nothing in the car'.They most likely found them and kept them for themselves. Instead of being honest, communicating properly and returning them, they chose to lie. Terrible customer service and zero integrity!

Decent, no nonsense car hire.
This is the 4th time I've used Autovia in the past 3years. I'm happy to report a consistently excellent service. Staff were courteous, professional and only too happy to help. Our latest car was an almost new VW T-cross. Fabulous. Exactly as booked. Well done Autovia see you again soon.

This company is a rip off and will scam you over alleged damage. I hired a car between 28/05/26 - 02/06/26. They tried a hard sell for extended insurance, despite me already paying for it through the booking and made it clear I would have to pay for damage.
On return, despite requesting the vehicle to be inspected I was told there was nobody available so had to just hand the keys in. I completed a full video of the car, noting no damage.
I have since been charged €265 for what I would describe as a 25mm scuff on the roof at best, which would polish off. There isn't even evidence its the same car. Photograph, no video of continuity.
Its a clear scam that i have no way of disputing as they will just take the money off my card.
I took a full video of the car on collection, but the mark is that small and insignificant, it wouldn't show up regardless. They have clearly just looked for any scuff that would show up on a photograph and are satisfied with that. It would be interesting to see how many times they have charged a customer for this scuff. The photograph is embarrassing to call it damage!!
Ignore the fake 5* reviews, they are fake and generated by AI like the company replies to negative reviews.
Disgusting company and people, do not use as you will pay a financial penalty!!
UPDATE
Autovia attempted to have my review removed as they said it contained defamatory content. Trustpilot disagreed!!. There are far too many identical 1* reviews for it to be wrong. Do not use!!
