Their customer service is suspect. Mom and I have tried to add our 18-year-old twins to one of our 5 established checking accounts. Ally quickly accepted my daughter as a joint owner of an account,... See more

Customer service twice told me that my…
Customer service twice told me that my refund would be 7 to 10 business days after they received payment confirmation. Now they tell me that it will take more than 20 business days. so now I am without my money for 2 months. I asked where this was documented and they told me it was an internal process and that there was no way to request an expidite. Very poor customer service with lack of clearly informing me of their processes and wait time for refund. I will not do business with them again.
Complete corporate cowardice—they close accounts without cause and leave you stranded
Ally Bank thinks they can completely blindside customers by shutting down all of your accounts with zero justification, zero cause, and zero warning. They hide behind their fine-print "discretionary closure" clauses in the deposit agreement like a shield so they never have to explain themselves or answer for the position it puts you in.
If you have open disputes or active time-bound products like Certificates of Deposit, they do not care about your money, your timeline, or the disruption they cause. When you call to demand answers, frontline agents and supervisors alike just parrot corporate non-answers and refuse to give a reason.
If you value stability and a bank that actually respects its customer contracts, stay far away from Ally. They will drop you on a whim and leave you scrambling to recover your own funds.
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I received good service for all banking functions for numerous years but after loosing most of my money there to a scam, instead of helping me to recover my money they closed my accounts and put me through a slow painful process to get the rest of my money from them. Their fraud department is filled with untrained specialists who had me running all over town to ATMS that gave me small amounts per day wasting hours of time WHEN THEY COULD HAVE JUST SENT ME A CHECK. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE TO THE Nth DEGREE
“Sorry” was all they could give me wheb…
“Sorry” was all they could give me wheb because of their processes and procedures, they left me and my family without a way to buy food or pay bills for several days.
I sign up for Ally, then in order to order a debit card, I need to insert funds into the account.
So I do that, then I order the card. They say then that the card will take 10 days to get to me.
So I’m asking them how can I get money out today/now?
I can’t transfer it out, that takes 3 days, they won’t activate my debt card so I can add it to my digital wallet, I can’t get a same day wire because it’s past 3 and something about the weekend, and if I Zelle it to someone else, it will take 1-3 days.
I told them my kids don’t eat and my bills don’t get paid. Doesn’t matter.
Worst customer service
Worst customer service. 50minutes on the phone
transferred to departments which took me back to the automated service. Worst will never ever use this company for anything. One star is to much. Jay was the worst.
Worse customer service in the world
Worse customer service in the world, seems like the agents helping over the phone do not speak English, you have to go through hoops and loops to get assistance, called several times during the week. I hate this bank !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Ally charged me a higher interest rate
Ally charged me a higher interest rate. Higher than all other offers with someone with 850 credit score. This was done by Mark Mitsubishi car dealer. Secondly, the vehicle title was never released. I found this out after making first payment. I was only given 38$ back from a 250$ first payment by Ally bank. Never received vehicle and dealership paid Ally bank for a loan that should been able to be created.
Customer service is trash
Customer service is trash, they won’t listen to you and go forbid you’re in Armed Forces need help like other financial institutions would listen and accommodate us. They will laugh at you. They don’t care at all! I was deployed in the Middle East bad connection missed a payment. Reported it immediately, I called to explain they didn’t wanna listen. Even after showing them my orders, lord never again
Crooked bank
They tried to get my ssi check and I am disabled and can't work!!!
I purchased my vehicle in November 2025…
I purchased my vehicle in November 2025 never received a copy of my title been calling for months about this and we are now in September 2026 and still calling to receive the copy. I will not use this place ever again.
Poor bill pay handling and customer service
I've been using them for years, but am stopping now due to dysfunctional customer service, and poor handling of bill pay checks. It's Ally's policy to deduct the funds for an issued bill pay check not at issuance, nor at cashing, but a random point in between. So you have to maniacally manage your bank balance to ensure it never dips below that value during the week+ timeframe which the checks are active.
In addition. the service is broadly poor, apparently outsourced, and responds broadly with boilerplate. I would steer clear.
They have a check payment a never…
They have a check payment a never posted the payment. It was confirmed the processing department had the check and would post it in 5 days. It still has not been do, but no one posted notes on the account. The customer service is the worst!!!
I wish you can give negative review
I wish you can give negative review, not even worth one start !! Ridiculous financing company. Each department doesn’t even seem to communicate or work with the others. Customer service tells you one thing, but when you speak with the other department, they claim they have no idea why customer service provided you with that information.
They send you letters saying they’re working with your insurance company on your claim, but when you call, they tell you those are just automated letters and ask you to deal with your insurance company yourself and simply send them the check.
On top of all that, they put you on hold for over an hour just to get inconsistent answers and no real help. This was my first time using this company, and it will definitely be my last. Overall, a very frustrating and disappointing experience, including my experience with Lauren.
DONT USE THIS FINANCIAL SERVICE IS SCAM !!
**Extremely frustrating experience with…
**Extremely frustrating experience with Ally Auto Finance.**
I have been paying on my auto loan for years, including paying more than my regular payment for over three years. For approximately two years, I paid around $850 per month specifically to catch up on the account, which I understood was supposed to include addressing the late fees.
Despite making these higher payments, I am now being told that my regular payment of approximately $642 has an amount due of $1,432 — nearly $800 more. I have been unable to get a clear, itemized explanation of exactly what these additional charges are or why they continue to appear.
I am also trying to make a $2,500 additional payment toward my principal because my current payoff is only around $5,881. Instead of allowing me to clearly make and designate the payment toward principal, I was told I have to process it through the app and that it would have to be reallocated afterward.
What is most frustrating is the lack of transparency. I repeatedly asked for an explanation of the charges and how my payment would be allocated in writing, and Ally refused to provide one.
This is not my first issue with obtaining documentation. Last year, I had to repeatedly pursue Ally for copies of my own loan contract after a representative initially refused to send them to me. I ultimately had to threaten to escalate the matter before I received the documents.
I have been trying to pay this loan down and resolve the account, not avoid my responsibility. I simply want transparency, an accurate accounting of my payments and fees, and confirmation that my money is being applied correctly.
After years of making payments, I should not have to fight this hard to understand where my money is going.
I am now escalating this matter through the appropriate consumer-protection channels and requesting a complete three-year payment history, including how every payment was allocated between principal, interest, late fees, and other charges.
Ridiculous wait times for customer service
I've been with Ally a very long time and was a happy customer for years. Lately, they aren't as competitive on rates and calls to customer service are ridiculously long wait times. I made a wire transfer to another bank and Ally requires me to call in.. wait 20 minutes listening to music, then it transfers to dead silence.. after 10 minutes i give up and call back since I think I'm transferred to nowhere. Same experience again.
My money is moving somewhere else very very soon.
Ally kept lien for years after loan was paid
Had an auto loan with Ally. Paid it in full and they kept the lien on the vehicle for years instead of sending release letter.
Ally Financial is by far the worst…
Ally Financial is by far the worst finance company on the planet. Their payment processing absolutely sucks!!! They take two weeks to process payments and then when they finally do, my bank account ends up with a large overdraft fee. Their employees are very rude and when an arrangement is made, they don't note it in the system. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!!!
Used to be a great bank but now awful
Used to be a great bank but now it is terrible. Interest rates are not competititive. Custoimer service is diabolical. The CSRs speak very poor English and are very unhelpful. Expect VERY long wait times whether it is for someone to answer the phone, escalate a call or even come on the online chat. Ally hates its cusotmers. They really don't want to help you at all.
This is quite sad
This is quite sad. My elderly mother co-signed for her grandson. My grandson took his life 9/1/2026 and my mother is left with a 500+ car note. I called to see if there was some type of help or insurance or some type of program that gives a little MERCY for this awful situation. So here is where this establishment became callous. After inquiring for help for my mother; and explaining the death and all. They take all this information and begin asking me questions about myself and the account. We stayed in the phone for quite some time and I was asked for my personal address and phone number and also the death certificate . I’m thinking we would get some type of resolution with all this stuff. So at the very end of the call I just stopped and asked him if he had anything that helps or not and he said no. Why would he keep me on the phone getting all this info and then zero help? Good grief. So insensitive.
