Most impressive help from the…

Most impressive help from the knowledgeable and helpful staff of the Cheapside Branch. Just looked at me, knew my size, made no fuss and couldn’t have been helpful. I bought one suit, had a cuppa then went back to buy another afterwards. Really helpful and great quality. Only thing I wished I’d known was that the trousers come with braces buttons and no loops for a belt…but I should have checked. Braces worked fine though are an incumbrance somewhat!

Ordered online - never received

Ordered jacket and trousered online, paid £10 for quick shipping, stock count shows 4 items available, but they never shipped. They kept my money for a week and then suddenly discovered they were out of stock. Happened twice in a year.
Never ever trust them - they are no gentlemen

Gone are the times!!!!

I have known Roderick Charles for more than 20 years from the time I was still leaving in the UK and I must say never faced any issues during all that time.
Until last week when I decided to by a double breasted blazer online and have it shipped to France. I was asked to pay for a price not including VAT as well as what appears to be a fairly high amount for the delivery costs (£35). I knew that I would have to pay the VAT back in France but certainly ot expected to pay more than the double.
The Roderick website never mentioned that such good surprise may arise (of course because if they would have, I'll probably would have reconsidered my choice). And when I reported that incident, they offered nothing more than the average "not responsible for this kind of situation" that clearly characterise the total lack of empathy with the average old client I suppose I am.
Gone are the times when a little sympathy, understanding or consideration to their customers from this establishment were the key words!!! Good morning faceless profit!!!
Time for me to turn myself to a proper taylor carrying on charging VAT to his European customers and preventing them to face surprises for which Roderick certainly does not feel accountable for.

Please accept our apologies for your disappointment. Your frustration with the customs duties is understandable.

It is our belief that this matter was resolved by our Customer Service team.
As a gesture of goodwill, on receipt of your returned parcel, they offered to fully refund your order had you decided not to collect it from French customs.

The customs duties for our international customers vary in cost, therefore we implement the following procedure:
Upon checkout and payment on our website, the VAT is deducted at source, resulting in any duties payable by the customer when the parcel reaches the final destination.

If you require further assistance when purchasing from our website, we are always available to offer assistance.

"Gentleman's tailors" are not gentlemen

The minimum expectation when you visit a gentleman's tailor is that your tailor will behave as a gentleman. Unfortunately, this does not apply to Roderick Charles in Jermyn Street, whom appear to have adopted the French waiter style of customer service whereby their staff set out to insult and degrade or embarrass their customers (and justify this on the power of "their name"). So, if you want a suit you can buy on line and have the measurements then in all probability they will offer you a reasonable but expensive service, but dare to attend their shop and you face a wall of arrogance and poor manners, usually reserved for a cafe in Paris. I do not recommend Roderick Charles as they appear to have forgotten the most important precept in the business of tailoring: the Customer is Queen. A simple arrangement, confirmed in writing, to have my son fitted but for this to be charged to myself, together with creation of an on line account such that Roderick Charles had my details (they promised to ring me if anything proved a problem), turned into an opportunity for staff to sneer at my son - making his first experience being tailored for a suit a truly memorable experience for entirely the wrong reasons. No apology, of course, rather told to write to Roderick Charles and feel free to tell him just how poor his service has become.

Quality, durable suits…

Bought 3 suits 4 years ago and wore them daily. Kept their shape still looked sharp and the trousers wore really well. Just gone back to replace as I have been impressed at the quality and durability at a reasonable price. My advice buy a second pair of trousers and you will have a suit that lasts and looks good for years.

Absolutely perfect.

Bought a blue double-breasted suit, and I intend on buying much much more. Suits have a crisp, sharp look. Suit arrived in good time. Cannot fault it even slightly.
