Founded in 1774 by Thomas Pittis, originally as an auction house, Pittis is the Isle of Wight's longest-standing and most trusted estate agency. For over two and a half centuries, the agency has been helping generations of families find their perfect homes, establishing deep roots across the island's vibrant communities.
Today, Pittis operates a network of seven branches—including offices in Newport, Ryde, Shanklin, and Cowes—making them the premier property experts on the island. In 1991, Pittis joined Arun Estates, the largest independent estate agency in the Southeast of England. Great Team!
In the last couple of years, Joe and his team have sold 3 properties for me as well as giving me some great advice when it came to buying. Joe, Beth and Ben are always happy to help and it's honestly like calling a mate. I am not a patient seller and no matter how moody and anxious I got during the process, they all always reassured me and remained positive and calm. Joe especially had to really help push 1 of the sales through when we had some pretty unresponsive solicitors on the other side, he called them multiple times a day, kept me updated multiple times a day and it felt like my property was the only 1 he was dealing with which I know was not the case. Joe, Beth and Ben all knew exactly who was calling before I told them (which could mean I am a nuisance 🙈😂) but it made the whole process feel much more personal. I would use Pittis Sandown again and would definitely recommend Joe and his team to anyone.

I would give no stars if that were possible.
I am looking to return to the island after 5 years away. It is necessary that my daughter does the initial viewings, travelling from Leeds to do so, a round trip of some 250 miles. Due to work commitments she was time limited to one day to fit in several viewings.
On phoning Pittis I was told there was no one available to do a viewing at the times available….only 5 p.m. the very time her ferry was due to leave. The staff member I spoke to was clearly uninterested in trying to help out a returning Islander. I doubted she was interested in selling the bungalow.
As I was keen to get a viewing I asked my daughter to try again the following day. Luckily she was given a time that with slight rearrangements of other viewings was very convenient.
However on the day she was called and told the appointment was not put in the diary.
No viewing took place.
As a returning islander i am disgusted at the way Pittis agents treated me and my daughter.
This is no way to treat perspective purchasers.
I wonder what the people selling the bungalow would think if they heard my story?

I am helping my daughter to sell her…
I am helping my daughter to sell her property and she signed a contract with Pittis after they were fairly enthusiastic about their ability to sell. They persuaded her to accept the ‘modern method of auction’ and not to update the property as planned. This made the property unappealing to the average home buyer as they would need to pay a huge non refundable reservation fee - about £15000- on top of the selling price. This system might work for builders and developers who want tatty properties to improve but my daughter’s property definitely doesn’t fit this category. Then there was the expected recommendation from the auction company to reduce rhe starting price by about 20%. Pittis themselves have consistently ignored emails and phone calls and never returned any calls when asked. I can honestly say that they have been totally abysmal.

Excellent service, friendly and helpful.
Sandown branch, first time buyer. Dealt mainly with Ben and sometimes Joe. Friendly and helpful staff right from first call to arrange a viewing. Unlike some other estate agencies on the island that I've had viewings with, Ben was always there on time and not trying to rush the viewing and push me out of the door so he could get on to other appointments after 2 minutes!
Throughout the buying process everything was made easier, as I knew I could always get in touch, as all staff were friendly and responsive to phonecalls, enquiries and even my daft questions!
Great service throughout my buying experience and would happily recommend and use Pittis Sandown in the future!
Many thanks!
Steve

Really excellent support from Pittis during my journey of buying a property. The whole team are very supportive, with particular mention to Jo in the Shanklin office and Ben, who accompanied us on many viewings, who both went out of their way to be accommodating, helpful and professional through the entire process.
Even though the property I ended up buying was with a different agent, Pittis supported me in meeting with their in house mortgage advisor, who gave excellent advice, and continued to check in unobtrusively to make sure everything progressed well.
Id absolutely recommend Pittis for both the viewing and mortgage experience and wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.

Highly Recommend for First time buyers
My partner and I are first time buyers and have been delighted with the service we have received from the Sandown Pittis staff. Ben has been so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. He made special accommodations to allow us to view the property to fit around our schedules and has been supportive throughout the buying process. We have been updated, kept in the loop at all times and responded to very quickly. We cannot fault our experience and we highly recommend them! Special thanks again to Ben from the Sandown team!

Having a laugh
I have very little faith in estate agents particularly when it comes to valuations, and this was confirmed by a recent visit from one of your agents.
The agent arrived on time, but I detected a negative attitude from the start, harping on about the state of the market and how house prices have fallen. As if I am interested? After all, I feel that this is a plot to get a quick sale and commission. Not at my expence!
It would appear that the agent had decided beforehand on the valuation based on "similar" properties, (of which there are none) without viewing my property or hearing the history. No interest was shown when I explained the improvements to the property. Needless to say, the valuation I found insulting, and I wonder what these agents are paid for?
Is there no-one any more who can value a property on merit and give a genuine valuation without comparison with "similar" properties?
My house is a re-build in a rural location, everything new, surrounded by half an acre of land and backing onto fields, and with no immediate neighbours.
When I queried the valuation, I was referred to a couple of similarly priced properties in the "area", (one 3 miles away). Both were older urban properties, with next door neighbours and no land.
I have since obtained two more valuations, much higher, and one from a professional surveyor
Cannot fault them at all
Cannot fault them at all. With no preferred location on the IOW I found several properties on the island in my range. Jo Lacey in the Shanklin office was amazing giving me a well organised itinerary over 2 consecutive days. She was quick and eager to clarify any queries and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Hence and happily I found the house I wanted with thanks to all the staff involved in the various Pittis branches and in particular Ben in the Sandown branch and especially Jo Lacey in the Shanklin branch.

Kris, what an asset to your company
We went to view rental property yesterday when we met Kristopher from the Ryde branch. Although we didn't proceed with the property, Kris was fantastic. I think he could tell from experience that the property was not for us, but all through the viewing we was friendly yet professional. He was extremely informative about the new rental legislation coming out in May. All in all, a fabulous first impression of Pittis, ably represented by a very approachable young man.

Spoke to Charli McHenry today about buying property on the Isle of Wight. She was incredibly helpful and it was lovely to speak to someone who treated me like a person not just a potential fee! Having spoken to several different estate agents on the Island, Charli was the first one that I felt really cared about the buyers and what they were looking for and nothing was too much bother. Thank you.
