Liza got right to the issues and after a hickup, she found that I didn't tell her the correct version. She was able to put in windows 10 instead of what I told her (windows 7). When this was corrected, she was able to install my drivers, which were erased after update, quickly. She was kind and thorough. Thank you Liza

Neat has some good capabilities, but also has problems (like its GUI). I’ve been using Neat for many years for home bill management, but I haven’t been using it well, so I’ve thought of downloading my data, closing my account and doing something else with the data rather than keep paying Neat when I’m not using it. Lo and behold, I find that I can’t (at least not easily)! Their current software only allows you to download 1 item at a time. With 2K+ items in the NeatCloud and difficulty typing, I’m looking at several weeks of trying to download the data. Their legacy software used to have an “export all” capability, but it stopped working when I moved to NeatCloud (no sync). So, I’ve been locked into either biting the bullet on downloading 1 item at a time or sacrificing all my data!
On other issues, their documentation on what products they have (and have had), what the products do (for non-businessmen) and their limitations could be improved. One area that bites me is how large of a display do I need to get everything to fit well (so my old eyes can read it)?!? The GUI could be much improved.
Ultimately, I think Neat is trying to lock people into its tool rather than provide open interfaces which might allow them to focus on cloud storage and let new tools be developed in the field.
UPDATE (02/21/23):
After reading Neat’s reply to my review, I want to apologize and will raise the rating to 5 stars. A few years ago, in talking with Neat, I was informed that the Legacy system had “export all”, but not the Smart Organization system (I think I’ve still got the email somewhere). Apparently, that is no longer true, but I let that color my thinking when I misread Neat’s recent email which explained how the updated software now has the capability. I now see that it is working and I am much happier about staying with Neat knowing I have a backup if Neat should ever falter. Thank you for the reply!

I purchased a scanner and program about 8 years ago. Loved it. Easy to use software, very consumer friendly. I had a small business and it worked very well for me. And then...they made changes in their software and everything is cloud based. Awful. Have spent hours with their "experts" only to have them ultimately agree that the software is lacking. Have set phone appointments and never got calls. Chat never open. The rates doubled but the product diminished. I literally threw hard earned money out the window. A few customer service agents have been nice to deal with but have no power to improve the software. Lots of excuses...meanwhile they collected $264. Ultimately I was told the only way to get the expense report (simple request!) is to pull it together manually. Really. How inefficient. And what did I pay for then? If I cancel I lose access to all my past years data. Cannot export it...really crummy. I tried the last 2 years to be "useful" and "helpful." Now I am just mad.
