Gurpreet Dhillon was born in Windsor, Ontario on March 28, 1980, and raised in Brampton during his formative years. He is a dedicated husband, father, youth and community leader, as well as a sitting Brampton and Peel Council member since 2014. He has made a name for himself over the last 8 years for his unwavering commitment to the health, wealth, and prosperity of not only his constituents in Wards 9 & 10 but to the entire city of Brampton. As a Councillor, some of Gurpreet’s achievements over the last 4 years include successfully maintaining a 0% City tax increase, successful motion for $0 seniors bus pass, multiple transit improvements, multiple improvements in policing including the recent approval for the satellite police station in his wards, advocating against cannabis shops in his wards, many park and safety improvements, support for the shortage in affordable housing, amongst many other achievements during this time. He successfully lobbied the province to ban door-to-door sales agents, proposing the name of Komagata Maru Park and advocated for fair and balanced rideshare and taxi regulations. In addition, he has also consistently opposed all salary increases for his colleagues and bailouts to private enterprises. One of his proudest personal achievements was the founding of his own Drop-in Basketball program which started in 2015 and was open to children from all diverse backgrounds throughout Brampton. It is a free initiative that is still going on after a short break from the Covid-19 pandemic. In his mind, children needed an avenue to keep away from drugs and violence through this free youth initiative. He has also hosted multiple neighbourhood safety town halls and regularly engages in an annual park tour, and community group gatherings where he updates residents on the happenings of city hall. With this impressive record for respecting and standing up for the taxpayer, Gurpreet has shown his strong commitment for a fairer and more equitable Brampton where everyone can succeed. Gurpreet is fighting for a Brampton that is competitive, forward thinking, and easily traversed so he will continue to advocate for a safer city, and a more balanced tax base through smart planning and increased business.
