CROOKS!!!Extremely bad service, first off, they pressure you into writing the reviews, then overcharged me and did not contact me to correct the situation, and when I brought it up to them they actually fought me on it. I downsized a locker and they changed me the full amount for the old one and the new one. He said he would refund the first one but never did until I showed up at the office. When I called they just hung up the phone.
When I closed the account for good, I had put some stuff in the garbage there along side everyone else. the next day I received a call stating I had to remove it or I would be charged 500$ so in the morning I rented a truck and picked up my stuff and brought it to the dump. I took photos of the trash, there are no signs saying you cant put anything there... and there was a lot of other peoples junk every time I've gone there. This call to inform me of the fine was the only news I had of the fines, I took photos of all the signs NONE show you will be charged a fine. The call was made in the afternoon and by next morning all my stuff was on a truck and at the dump... this is an unfair charge considering the time I was given to remove it, and the lack information anywhere about the fines. ONLY sign they had at the dumpster was you cant put smelly odorous garbage... which means you can leave your furniture if its not toxic smelling waste!

I made a reservation for a storage unit in the Laval location, and the store manager, Claude, was absolutely wonderful. Kind and understanding, he helped me find a unit that suited my needs. I highly recommend their services!
I was in need of storage unit to store my Can Am Spyder and came across Depotium on google who advertised car and motorcycle storage. When you try to call a specific location, it automatically calls a sales department who dont work at any of the locations. They told me that they do offer Can Am storage and had a unit available immediately. Went to the location to find out it was not a drive in and was actually a storage locker and that specific location did not have drive ins. Called back to find out what I can do and if they had any other locations available with drive in storage unit. Gave details of the Spyder (exact dimensions) and sales rep even googled to see pictures and get the dimensions herself. She laughed at the mistake the other rep made and apologized for the error and reassured me that the new location she found me would be perfect. Went to the new location to book the unit and the lady working there told me that the door to the unit is a regular size door and would be impossible to drive in my Spyder and that the sales department always makes these mistakes. After running around for 3 hours and being told false information I advise everyone to stay away from calling and just visit the locations!!! They need to close the sales department and let every location take care of their own bookings!
I went today in St-Hubert for information and rent a space. Xavier was excellent to work with. Very well informed and took the time to go over everything. I would highly recommend.
a group of thieves. unfortunately I am outside Canada and I had a problem with the credit card, I contacted advising of the problem and if I could pay with my husband's credit card but the contract had to be redone. I explained and specified that we were not in Canada and it could only arrive around the first week of May, they told me ok, my husband arrived on site and the ladies gave the news that they had sold everything. All the memories of my children, photos, documents, clothes, not to mention valuable appliances, bicycles, my precious book collection and the last gifts from my mother who passed away. I asked to get back at least the documents, the photos, the memories of my children when they were little and the clothes, the answer was No. I had called on 04/11/24 as per the email and despite them having confirmed to me that they would wait for my husband who would land in Montreal the first week of May, they did not respect their word and refused my husband to pay and collect our personal things, saying that everything had been sold. shameful and cheaters.
Predatory, scammer organization. An absolute horror story.
I've had my things there for 22 months and it's been one of the worst experiences I've had in my 57 years - and I've had a lot of people die on me.
1) Don't pay too much attention to the advertised price - they have no intention of respecting it.
Please note that the price is for exactly 28 days ( their year has 13 months ! ) and not a calander month - pure sales B.S. - never a good sign.
They arbitrarily raised my unit rent ~$40 / 28-day-period on two occasions in less than 2 years !
Plus, they obliged me to take their insurance for an additional $20 every 28 day period.
2) Loan Shark interest rate on late payments.
This organization is perfectly comfortable charging their clients a very hostile 5% interest rate every 6 days on an outstanding late balance. That comes out to over 200% on an annualized basis. The Canadian criminal code stipulates that interest over 60% per annum is illegal and constitutes 'loan sharking'. I don't know how they get away with it. The Québec Consumer Protection agency will be hearing about this.
3) Scam Insurance -
At the last minute, they compelled me to carry insurance. I was in the middle of a stressfull move and didn't have the inclination to shop around so I acquiesced and took the overpriced policy that Depotium pushed. My mistake. I paid $20 every 28 days for $5000.00 worth of coverage. This policy has so many exclusions that it is essentially useless. Money down the drain. It's just another way to inflate what you pay. I imagine it's a good moneymaker for Depotium.
4) Scam Insurance 2 -
Sure enough, my unit was flooded while renovations were being carried out and my $3000.00 sofa plus a bunch of other items were ruined. I was never told that my unit had been flooded and I only found out about it around two months later. At least I was insured. NOPE ! THE STAFF HAS REFUSED TO LET ME MAKE A CLAIM ! WE'RE STILL FIGHTING OVER THIS ! These people are shameless. Do not buy their 'insurance'.
5) Unit was smaller than promised. I signed for a 13'x14' = 182 sq.ft. unit. When I arrived with my truck on a Saturday, I was irritated to find a massive 16 Sq.ft.column in the middle of my unit. Since the office was closed, I squeezed all my goods in and called it a day. When I complained to the manager at the time, Claude Leduc, HE BLAMED ME for not taking time out of my move to come and check the unit beforehand. My request for a discount was rebuffed with prejudice. Rrrrr.
6) Fake positive reviews - It's clear as day that the majority of the positive reviews found here have been purchased by Depotium's management. Do not believe them, they lie.
Depotium is Terrible !
We had a serious issue with my daughter not being able to locate her things. Once contact was made with the regional manager, Niam, he was able to sort the issue and assist us in locating the belongings. It was a very stressful time and we appreciated the work it took to figure out what had happened. I would recommend this company.

I cannot even begin to tell you how unorganized and unprofessional this company is. It was a total nightmare! They told us that we owed them money and threatened to take the unit away. We had a receipt showing we had indeed already paid for the unit. Finally, after speaking to MULTIPLE people who would send us to another number, they said they had made a mistake. They had changed our unit without informing us and someone failed to transfer the payment info. We was supposed to be sent another receipt that day showing the payment with new unit number, but never received the receipt. Even after this, we continued to be told over and over that we had failed to pay. We arrived at our unit to move in and there was no office. Nobody would answer the phone at number given on door. So we had to go to another address. We searched everywhere and could not locate it. Finally realized there was a door underneath a bridge that was the address. The man inside was nice enough and realized we had had a lot of trouble with this whole process of renting the unit. He gave us the access code for the garage at the unit in order to park our car inside and move in. We arrived back at our unit only to discover the access code did not work. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone and will not he using them in the future.

I've been renting at the Robert Bourassa / St. Paul unit in Montreal for over four years now. My recent experience with their customer service is, to put it lightly, absolutely horrible. Calls are not returned and e-mails are either ignored or not answered correctly. Friends of mine who were helping me clear out the unit have found the Depotium office closed even when it was right in the middle of opening hours. At another visit, the same friends were refused entry even though I was assured I had properly authorized them when I started renting the unit. Apparently they had changed the rules in the meantime, without informing me.
To give a recent example of their style of communication: three weeks ago I sent them an e-mail asking what their fee is to get rid of the items remaining in my rental unit, so that I can close it. This is a service I am sure they have, as they have told me so in the recent past. I have had to send this e-mail no less than five times now, receiving an answer only twice, but with an answer to a question I had not asked.
I have tried calling many times. But they don't pick up the phone, and have not responded to a single one of many callback requests I have left.
The situation is getting so bizarre that I am seriously considering that they might be stalling on purpose, so that I will pay rental fees for longer. I have already had to pay an extra month of fees (180 CAD) because of all this.
What's left for me to do now? My health won't allow me to travel back to Canada to handle this in person. Maybe I should simply block my credit card? That's not a nice measure, but I really don't know what else I could do to solve this.

I have been a client at Depotium for many years (both the St Paul site and St Antoine). My needs change regularly and I am thrilled with the services that are provided to me. Extremely kind and knowledgeable management and staff with continued resolution options for my many business needs. I will continue to support Depotium the same way they support me. Thank you to all for your effort and making me feel like a valued customer.

They ask you to leave a positive review before even signing the contract for a storage unit…and yes they will have you do it right then and there, in front of them….👏This company will auction off your stuff after 45 days of non payment. The same day your rent is due, they out there lock on your locker. But the Real issue is that, 35 days after that, they put a "lean fee" which is the same price as whatever your locker costs…so that comes to 3 months of storage locker rent due that has to be paid all at once.
Furthermore, they charge you every 28 days (so they can charge storage fees 13 Times a year instead of just 12). This also affects the billing date of your locker, with every month your storage locker being due on a different day….
To Breakdown, I pay $896.80 for a 10’x30’ storage locker (plus an additional $21.80 for required protection plan insurance). So that’s:
$918.60 for locker + 35 days of late fees (4x$28) + new months storage locker rental $918.60 + lean fee $918.60 = $2,755.80.
So a one time payment of $2755.80 is required to save my storage locker that I actually haven’t had access to for the passed 35 days but am now paying out the
Just a little fyi: Depotium Makes More Money Money AUCTIONING off storage lockers than they do renting people that actual space to store it in…. Why do you think they give you a the first month free? Out of the kindness of their heart? Lol

Secure place. However, who knew that bills periods are for 28 days and not the full month as in other places. After a year, you get to be paying an extra 3-4 weeks.
Also, every 6 to 12 months, without warning, they decide to increase your rent by close to 20%! Imagine if I decide to keep my place for more than 3-4 years.. I'd be paying the same amount as an 3 storage rooms! There goes the free months bargain from the beginning

I recently had a heart attach and was late on paying rent because i was in hospital. Someone from Depotium started daily calls. Then this person called my emergency number asking my mother in law were i was. After being told the situation they continue the calls. Very unprofessional

I am giving 2 stars because i had a nice experience with the manager at the unit itself. But customer service is the worst. Everytime I call they give different info and confirm a manager will call but i have been waiting a week and everytime i call, they said they would have someone call me. They have false advertisement, false pricing confirmation over the phone and agents give different info everytime.

Marcellin and Frederick at the Shannon Street, Montreal storage unit were extremely helpful and solved all issues. This storage facility is fantastic and very well run.
Kudos

Not being able to access storage facility because of construction in Griffintown is frustrating. What's even worse is not being notified of this. I can't access my belongings, or drop things off..... But I'm still charged the fee. Being told to park on another street and walk isn't a solution either.

I had hoped to have nothing but great things to say about my experience BUT I DON’T.
I called and paid in advance for a locker that was to be activated on Friday…I made it clear that it needed to be available that weekend. Which ended up to be a WASTE OF A WEEKEND! The contact was signed Tuesday of that week and when we arrived on Friday night the code had not been programmed!
Nowhere in our written documentation or within in any of our verbal communications with the manager George or customer service was it advised that in case of an emergency there was a number to call for assistance. The manager behaved arrogantly with Eric when he came to sign the contract. Pushing it in front of him without any discussion about the space or the details of the contract.
It was after leaving some unsavoury messages that I got a call back on Monday morning from George saying…. The “code worked for me this morning”Then to top it off accused me of not having enough common sense to call back the 1-800 number the night we came to drop stuff off.
That pissed me off immensely and then I was told that in order to have something done about this situation I would have to write and email and describe the situation.
The contract is calculated every 28 days instead of every 30 days or monthly… the insurance amounts can change without notice etc! It’s all a bit sketchy!
I don’t recommend this place.

The bilingual manager, Michel Bourdeau, is polite, helpful and exceptionally friendly. The warehouse is clean and secure. A first glance, the 5x10 space looked small to me but it's actually not when you consider the 8-foot height. There are lots of trolleys for moving items in and out and the ease of access -- from 6 AM to 10 PM seven days a week -- could not be better. Glad to have this excellent facility in the neighborhood.

Reply from Depotium Mini-Entrepôt
The facilities are clean and well kept, service is good, business practices are sketchy. We made it clear from the start that were were renting for six months. Due to the pandemic and travel restrictions we were there 11 months. Three months after moving in we received a substantial increase, being out of the country it was rather difficult to vacate the premises. Charging every 28 days rather monthly also becomes rather expensive.
For all those reasons and the fact that there are many of those storage outfits in the area, I would not go back or recommend them.

Reply from Depotium Mini-Entrepôt
I wish I could give a two-part review. The staff and security and cleanliness of the facility would get 5 stars, but the pricing and business practices would get 1 star. When I was looking for storage I first called the one in Vaudreuil and reserved a locker. I called them back 5 minutes later to ask if the units were heated, and since they are not, and you have to stand in the mud and rain to unload your stuff, I told them to cancel and I will use the one in Baie d'Urfe. I noticed later that they charged me two administration fees, one of which was from the Vaudreuil location. I called to complain and they said they would refund me one of the fees, but they never did. I felt the storage rates were kind of high for the space you got, but I needed storage quickly. A couple of months later the rate was jacked up another $20 so now I will be vacating and will not use self-storage any more. The 4-week billing instead of monthly is also a sneaky move to squeeze an extra payment out of everybody.
